contents 12>> Do This ISSUE 52 MAY/JUN18 We’ve got some big stuff in this edition of Luxe. It feels like the year has really turned a corner and got itself going after a weird stop-start to 2018, with that mad weather and premature Easter. Now we’re in the swing of things; looking forward to a spring and summer fest of fun that takes in everything from royal weddings to wild garlic. And when I say big, I meant giant. The giant who is our cover star Ian Whyte. The 7ft 1ins former Newcastle Eagles basketball player who has gone on to have towering roles in the Harry Potter films, Alien vs Predator and the on-going TV spectacular that is Games of Thrones. Normally the quiet man, Ian, who lives in Tynemouth, breaks out of his mighty mask to talk to us about his truly fascinating journey from basketball arena to Hollywood. I’m about to go watch a re-run of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire to see how he fares as Hagrid’s love interest Madame Olympe Maxime! Also on Team Luxe this edition is photographer Tom Stoddart talking about life in the thick of danger as a war photographer and we meet up with F1 engineer Rob Smedley who is organising a heartfelt charity gala in memory of his dad. This edition also features our Food Trail magazine which will take you on a scrumptious and completely mouth-watering global food journey. So inspiring!
