Best Bar Kettle Black Best Night Out Cubana With live music and tapas upstairs and salsa dancing – and the widest range of rums in Sheffield behind the bar – Cubana consistently delivers the whole package from the stunning surroundings of Leopold Square. Speaking after their second successive win in this category, Cubana’s Jonathan Furness said: “We’re extremely happy. We’re a family team, everyone looks out for each other, everyone enjoys themselves and hopefully the customers enjoy it as much as we do.”
Best Contemporary Bank House This delightful new addition to the Derbyshire dining scene draws inspiration from Spain and is housed in a neo-Jacobean old bank – in case you hadn’t worked that out already. Choose from a range of tapas. Their traditional Sunday lunch deserved special mention too. Sam Bell seemed very humbled by the award: “It’s very, very unexpected. I’m just the idiot who bought an empty bank! [The win] is down to an amazing team, everyone works very, very hard. We’ll have the plaque proudly on the wall.”
With its cocktail masterclasses, lively DJs and VIP area, Kettle Black ticks all the boxes for that extra special night out – and they’ve been doing it on a consistent basis. This was their third win in a row. Jack Hartley, general manager enthused: “Three years in a row, it’s a great honour, especially in a growing competitive market in Sheffield where there’s a lot of bars and restaurants popping up. “We try and keep ahead of the game with our drinks and service and it’s good that we’re still seen as a highend bar in that sense.”
Best Dining Pub Tickled Trout
There’s lots to love about the Tickled Trout in Barlow. The bar is an inviting place to start the evening, with a good selection of beers and ales as well as an extensive gin menu. And the restaurant, which has proved consistently good over the years (the day boat fish is fantastic), is worthy of every praise. “It’s great teamwork, a great team effort,” said Chris Mapp, chef proprietor. “The staff try their hardest to take it to the next level. The success is all down to the hard work my team does.”
