JAH9

In school they used to call me by the nickname... JanJan or Jah9 Today I‘m known by my stage name Jah9, which I chose because... I’ve had it for a long time and found great significance and meaning in “Jah” and the number 9. Minutes before I go on stage, I... stretch and meditate. And right after my performance, I... give thanks. I‘d never miss a show by... Tracy Chapman! If I had my own festival, the following five artists would headline it: Burning Spear, Winston McAnuff, Midnite, Tracy Chapman, Emilie Sadie. When I was a child, my greatest hero was... my dad. If I could perform anywhere in the world, I would love to go to... Ethiopia. If I wasn‘t an artist, I‘d probably work as... forensic psychologist. On my perfect day... I’m sunbathing on a beach in Portland with a few of my favorite things ;)

The first stage show I attended was... a gospel concert with Papa San as the headliner. For breakfast this morning I had... a chilled julie mango! The next hype will be… Hype?!? Lol – but I have a great song I did on an original Channel One riddim created in 1982. Its called “Steamers a Bubble”, go check it!
