Reema Shah’s career has unfolded through a steady combination of financial expertise, careful analysis, and a deep interest in supporting work that benefits both organizations and communities. Over more than twenty-five years, she has contributed to early-stage ventures, investment management, education, and philanthropy, consistently grounding her decisions in discipline and purpose. Her introduction to the finance world began at Stern Stewart & Co. in New York, where she evaluated companies across a wide range of industries using the EVA framework. This early experience offered her a detailed view of corporate performance and helped her develop the structured approach that would become central to her investment philosophy. She strengthened this foundation through subsequent roles at Morgan Stanley and Fayez Sarofim & Co., expanding her skills in company valuation, sector analysis, and direct engagement with executive teams. After receiving her MBA from the Kellogg School of Management in 2000, Reema joined Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette as an equity research analyst. In this role, she conducted in-depth research and provided investment recommendations to institutional clients. Her work further developed her understanding of public markets and reinforced her reliance on careful evaluation before making decisions. Reema later advanced into a significant leadership position at JWS Technology Funds as managing director and partner. She began as an analyst and eventually co-managed a multi-billion-dollar technology-focused mutual fund. She also invested in software and consumer companies for the firm’s hedge fund, contributing to its growth from $10 million to more than $1 billion. Her work at JWS highlighted her ability to navigate market volatility and identify opportunities in competitive industries. Even as she succeeded in the financial world, she increasingly sought ways to blend strategy with social purpose.
