Where Stars Shine
We spoke to the team of artists that made one of the leading party hubs of Bahrain what it is today. Find out what else is on this month. RAMEE PALACE HOTEL
Curiouser and Curiouser Grand Prix month is always a hard act to follow, but one club is doing their best to ensure the party continues all the way through to Memorial Day weekend.
“We don’t know how else to put it; it was an amazing experience opening for such an amazing nightspot,” says Ray St Hilaire, band leader of Cache Superstar, the resident band at Club Buffalo. The key to a matchless gig night after night is great teamwork. That is exactly what this septet has got right from the beginning. Another advantage of these musicians that has shocked party-goers in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Bangkok in the past year alone is the fact that they are all extremely multi-talented and can take up any role on stage depending on their genre of expertise. If you thought they were great when they played for the first time at this Wild West-themed parlour, wait till you see what they have arranged for you this time around. “I think this has been our strongest line-up as far as the show is concerned. We are expanding our repertoire in terms of styles of music and the audience can expect better choreography as well,” he said. To catch them at their best, join them on May 18 as the venue hosts Buffalo Lost in Paradise II. The unlimited drinks package comes at a price of BD15. If you’ve worked up an appetite with all that jumping around, try out their dinner set at BD8 with a free drink. Where the party is at May 10 is your night to glow as the Lumina glow stick party makes a comeback. We hear an international DJ will grace the venue with his presence on May 31. Grab your tickets at BD5. E Call 17 826-001, 33 731-000 or 36 131-020.

Resident Canadian band at Dublin, Hot Beats, take to the stage five nights a week with one unified objective — to entertain. On the sixth night, every Saturday, it’s ‘jam night’, when the entertained become the entertainers, a concept which has unearthed the vast depth of Bahrain’s talent, or at least a willingness to try. From singers to saxophonists, hundreds of jammers have graced the Dublin stage over the past three years and the flood gates have just opened. Seize your chance to perform on stage simply by showing up. On May 17, it’s the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party with all the usual contenders in attendance. Jam tarts will be available in abundance, alongside a full three-course menu available for BD8 including a beverage. Those in costume will surely be rewarded with some liquid refreshment, but simply showing up should guarantee an evening of mayhem. Sports fanatics Don’t miss all the biggest games throughout the month of May, with every minute shown live and large on the big screen.
