In High Spirits alison coldridge A new venue in town provides an injection of ‘fresh’ to our Thursday nights; an innovative design, chic ambience and modern vibe create a place to be seen at. The nightlife scene in Bahrain can become repetitive as venues have a habit of repeating parties and events with the same crowd each week. So the partygoers of Bahrain always love to hear of a hot new opening; somewhere new to try and potentially like. Currently everyone is talking about EleVation, a fresh venue that opens just on the one night of the week that we need it to be — Thursdays. Located in the Grand Safir Hotel in Juffair, this tucked-away hotspot promises to bring clubbers fantastic live shows, sensational tracks and quality service each and every Thursday. The venue’s launch, mid-last month, was a raging triumph and drew in the crème de la crème of the Kingdom’s party scene. The promotional team successfully got Bahrain waiting with baited breath to see what this new place would have to offer and the crowds didn’t appear to be disappointed. Stand out or stand up Dark and enveloping, the décor isn’t particularly novel, but a wild light system transforms the place and invites you to party. But the most unique aspect of the club is definitely the layout, Also this month

one that has never before been tried in Bahrain, and a concept that seems to have inspired the club’s name. The entire floor is determined by different levels, with glass ramps leading to each different area. The effect is fun, novel and very modern. The dance floor is another intriguing element. Raised a good few metres from the ground level, it boasts a completely transparent base, giving you the slightly unnerving experience of elevation. Overlooked by the DJ booth, this area, however, is the best place to soak in the beats and have a boogie. A few large bars cover each side of the club, ensuring quick service with a huge selection of beverages for the prices you would pay in most venues. If you want to go all out, you can book a VIP table for yourself and your friends, a good idea to rest your danced-out feet. Included is a bottle of your choice of spirit. Just like any successful club, EleVation hits the spot with its get-up-and-dance set list. House, dance and commercial tunes play throughout the night and the organisers are hoping to bring in internationally-known DJs to perform — there are talks of getting DJ Joshua Roberts of the Ministry of Sound fame to spin the decks. Previous DJs to perform have included Bahraini duo Gazi and Huss, who got the crowds going with a fusion of smooth, soulful and ‘techie’ sounds. E Call 39 107-686.
