2022 I decided to pitch the idea of a disco dancing group to my u3a in Ilkley, West Yorkshire. The suggestion got a positive response and a local scout hall looked to fit the bill in terms of size and cost, plus it had on-site parking and good

access to public transport transport. A time slot was chosen – fortnightly on a weekday afternoon from 2-3.30pm, with a mid-session break for tea and biscuits so members can chat. To create a bit of atmosphere, the hall’s shutters are closed and inexpensive flashing coloured disco party lights are fired up. SUMMER 2026 u3amatters 7
