In this holiday season, full of magic and blessings, ask The Wishing Star to let the spirit of Christmas enter into our homes, especially our hearts and allow it to illuminate us with the greatest feelings of love and peace for ourselves, our family, friends and everyone around the world. The Wishing Star is inside of each one of us, and it allows us to just be a child again and bring happiness, joy and laughter in this holiday season. The Wishing Star is part of us. Don’t let its brilliance disappear.

The Flat Tire By Maria
English Second Language, 2nd year ast month when I got out from work I tried to find a short way to come home from Santa Fe to Albuquerque. As I was driving and trying to be on time to class that day. I think I am in the middle of the way and I hear something happen. So I stopped right away because I felt like something happened with the tire. I got out and checked and the tire was flat. I was scared and I didn't know what to do. The road was lonely and dark and a lot of people passed but I didn't feel good about someone stopping to help. I was panicked because the place was desolate. I didn't know where I was. I didn't try to get in the class because the place was dark and at the moment I was trying to get help. I don't remember if you texted me or I texted that I couldn't make because the internet so I tell you what was going on with me. I didn't expect that you could help me. But right away you answered and then Scott, the other teacher, texted me and asked me where I was and I said I don't know. Right away he told me how to use my phone to find where I am but I didn't have an idea how to use the phone to show where I am. So when he started telling me how to do it I started to do it and I relaxed a little by little to show where I am. We got it because he told me how to use google maps. Because I was nervous I didn't tell him the place exactly right. I said I-14 but it was highway 14. He told me how to use google maps so I can explain to the other people where I was so the other people could find me. I was glad everyone helped me Susanna helped me, Scott helped me, Felicia helped me and my friends helped me. When we found where I was I felt much better. I am going to say thanks to everybody from my class for helping me. Scott was with me until someone finally found me. He never left me. After that he tried to help me find a tire but it was too late. After that I felt more comfortable. From this lesson I feel I learned something in my life because I learned how to find my location and use google on my phone and I am not going to forget. I feel like I learned something very important. I am very glad this happened because I didn't miss the class. The class was by telephone and it was the best class. For me it was a special class.

Wise Person Learning By Eric R
Travel
Basic Literacy, 3rd year believe a wise person learns from his or her mistakes, but an even wiser person learns more from other persons' mistakes. For instance I saw my dad worried and stressed about things that were out of his control, and it was so burdensome that it made him sick. As for me, I choose not to worry about the things I can do nothing about, so I do my best and let God do the rest.
My Family Vacation By Chloe H
English Second Language, 1st year y family and I went to see the sites in San Diego, California over Labor Day weekend. We planned to visit a few places for this trip. My daughter likes animals so we decided to go to the Zoo and SeaWorld. We went on a harbor tour also. On the first day we visited the Zoo. San Diego Zoo is one of the few zoos that has a Panda exhibit in the United States. This was the main reason that we chose San Diego for our family vacation. The zoo was big and had a lot of exercise that day. Luckily, the weather was nice and most of the animals were out. I thought the pandas were adorable because they eat while playing with the swing. Since it was Labor Day weekend the Zoo held a night parade-such an amazing experience. On our second day we went to SeaWorld. They had a lot of animal performances. One of my favorite shows was the Sea Lions. They were dancing with the trainer and passing the ball to each other. They were clapping their flippers when they were happy. The sea lions are very smart and cute. At the end of the show they got treats for working hard at their performance. All I heard was cheers from the audience. SeaWorld also had all kinds of rides. Some of the rides looked scary, people were screaming out loud while on the ride. We rode on a few of the kid friendly rides and it was fun! At night they had a beautiful fireworks show. My daughter and I really loved it. On the last day we went on a harbor tour. The Navy Base was by the pier, it was big and spectacular. The ship that we boarded was impressive and huge. The ship even had a bar and restaurant on it. We enjoyed the ocean view while eating our delicious lunch. It was a relaxing day of our trip. We had a busy but fun Labor Day weekend in San Diego. The seafood I had was fresh and fantastic. We had a great time on our trip. I can't wait to go back to visit again. San Diego is such a perfect place for a vacation.

English Second L edusa was a beautiful young lady, who was an avowed priestess of Athena and the temple, but Poseidon (king of the sea) raped Medusa in Athena's temple. Athena took this as a major offence since Medusa was one of favorite priestesses Athena punished Medusa by turning her hair to snakes and her skin was turned a greenish color. Medusa became a monster with the deadly capacity to turn people who looked at her into stone.

kay, who stole the title for this essay? Seriously you guys, this is my last one and I need it for this presentation! Man this sucks! Uh hey, do you think I can borrow a title for a bit? LOL, but jokes aside, I would like to talk about my experience with Ethos Literacy. I’ve had optimism for this day but even now being in this moment is unreal. When I finished my last test and saw the score I had trouble with my balance and I couldn't figure out if it was because of the pure shock surging through my body or if it was because got new shoes the day before. haha, I thought talking about plate tetanics would be the hardest question I’d ever had to answer, but now a even tougher question is how do I put all this into words? I guess a more easier place to start is how I would to thank those who helped me get here, especially my tutor Yvonne. I don’t believe I would have gotten this far without her help. Even with simple tasks I was pushed to go that extra mile so I would be prepared for anything. So I believe that extra kick got me as far as I did. Yet she was lenient enough so that I wasn’t overwhelmed with fear, giving me a more clear head to focus, any question I had was always answered. I honestly don’t think I could have had a better tutor. If I have any advice for anyone before me is to have patience. Making time for your responsibilities and yourself in itself is a challenge. So it’s important to stay focused but go at your own pace. The grind is hard and I’m not gonna sugar coat it, but with a bit of focus and balance for yourself, you’ll be just
The Beautiful Dog and the Naughty Bee By Asalia
English Second Language, 6th year nce upon a time, there was a beautiful dog named Hermoso. Hermoso was a small dog; he had a lot of white long hair and brown eyes. The dog lived with his owner in a magical place surrounded by a lot of different kinds of trees, flowers, grass and a crystalline river. There were birds , butterflies of different colors and fat bees too. Every day Hermoso and his owner walked in the morning and the afternoon too as long as time allows. Sometimes Hermoso runs fast through the side of the river, then he rests and takes a little nap while he dreams about his beautiful place. One day in the morning while Hermoso walked between the flowers, suddenly some bees appeared, attracted by the scent of the flowers . One of these bees tried to sting the dog , but he had a lot of long hair and this helped. The bee couldn't sting Hermoso. Hermoso just moved and ignored it. Then the bee tried again and this time Hermoso didn't have the same luck because the bee stung his nose and poor Hermoso screamed, ran in circles and cried without her owner being able to do anything.

Fall Fall Season Color By Edith
English Second Language, 5th year The lovely fall season color is wonderful. All trees change their leaves color slowly. Some of them fall and make the roads to look delectable. Is seductive to see them like that and make us fall in love of the nature which attracts us feeling winter approaching. The times of celebration are coming. That’s why Fall season for me is lovely.

y favorite season is fall. I like it very much because I can see the colorful leaves. So I like hiking in the colorful mountains in the fall. The views of the mountain are like a colorful painting. It is so beautiful. Every fall, I usually went hiking with my friends and my family. I enjoyed the fall months so much. This fall, I went hiking with my friends. The local Chinese church organized this activity, and we drove for about 1 hour to the Sandia Mountains in Albuquerque. The trail that we walked was very steep. But the leaves are very amazing. Some are yellow like a banana's color; Some are hot as a sunset. My friend, whose name is Kathy, is a mature lady and she looks very younger. She is a nurse and retired last year. She raised four children with her husband together. And she shared with me some stories about how she made her efforts to balance life and work. Her words gave me more energy regarding how to face my current life. I love the fall as I harvest the friendship. Especially, it also took me such beautiful memory.

The Legend of Zel— uh, I mean King Arthur

Hi-SET, 2nd year ased on folklore, King Arthur was a legendary British leader who defended Britian from Saxon invaders in the late 5th and early 6th centuries. His legend ranged from his quest for the Holy Grail to the formation of the Knights of the Round Table. Even today his legend is greatly referenced, rather it being a simple documentary or even his likeness being represented in many popular TV shows. Still, there have been some people, myself included, who questioned if he truly existed. These tales of Arthur seem to have originated from a British cleric by the name of Geoffrey of Monmouth. From hence on these tales served as a stepping stone for a variety of lore dedicated to Arthur but nothing is confirmed definitive. There seems to be little to no evidence of his existance. Even in media he is portrayed in many different ways. Regardless, this legend has left a positive impact on many people. Not only how people try to keep the legend alive because a form of admiration, but a form of confidence that people can try to relate to. In some way, they try to be like him in terms of personality or confidence. If we find the truth that would be nice too but for now, real or fake, there’s no denying that his tales leave us striving to be, and do, more.
hen I was a young man, I didn’t have money to pay a mechanic for wrenching on my car, so I learned the basics like maneuvering my hands to get into hard to get places. I still got the work done reluctantly because it needed to be done, and after it was repaired, my car was functioning like it should but it still trickled a little oil. However, my car was launching over speed bumps. After that, I was surprised my car survived all that I put it through. For example, I would be able to bury the needle on the freeway. I would also have a lot of fun in it because I was young and dumb. Even though I was young and sometimes dumb, I was able to work on my own vehicles.
