Rawsi Williams
Attorney Rawsi Williams, Esq., R.N., is a Florida-based civil rights attorney, registered nurse, and United States Army veteran. She is one of the few professionals licensed in both nursing and law, dedicating her work to protecting civil and constitutional rights. Her cases span federal, state, and administrative courts, covering civil rights, employment, education, healthcare, and government accountability. She earned national recognition after securing a $2 million unanimous jury verdict in a federal excessive force case, the highest jury verdict in a pure police brutality case in that court system. She also became one of only four attorneys in four decades to defeat the Florida High School Athletic Association on behalf of a student-athlete. Rawsi is one of five children, with four daughters and one son. Her brother’s incarceration deeply impacted her path, motivating her to enter law school to stand up for those silenced or mistreated. Later, he himself became a victim of police brutality in Texas, where officers repeatedly tased him inside an ambulance after a seizure. A Judge ruled that the officers lacked probable cause for the arrest after dragging him from the ambulance, and she secured him a Texas attorney to pursue justice through a federal lawsuit. Before practicing law, Rawsi served in the United States Army and began her career in healthcare. She studied at Tuskegee University, where she became the first female Ranger in the school’s Army ROTC history. She later graduated from Florida A&M University College of Law with a Juris Doctor degree and received specialized military training in medical records. She also earned numerous professional certifications and is a frequent keynote speaker and lecturer. Licensed in all Florida state courts and several federal jurisdictions, Rawsi has also been admitted pro hac vice in Texas and Georgia. Her practice includes civil rights litigation, constitutional law, and administrative defense.
