AREA HISTORY

Lingle, Wyoming, is a small town located in the eastern part of the state. The town was founded in 1886 and was originally known as “Cactus.” The name was later changed to Lingle in honor of William Lingle, a local rancher who played a key role in the town’s early development. Despite its small size, Lingle has an incredible community, is rich in history, and is home to several notable landmarks. Other amenities include a K-12 public school system, a newer community center, a public park, and several small businesses.
