Two USA BMX Pro races under 2024’s belt, and the rookie class is here to compete. An exciting new class of Rooks brings proven speed, untapped potential, and a battle-ready mentality to the season. As the top racers in the Men’s and Wom en’s Pro classes gear up for their Olympic run, the new kids are ready to capitalize.
Each with their strengths, it will be the big hill confidence and a racers-race mentality that will transform them from Rookie to racer later in their careers. The rookie class debuted a few at the season opener in Sara sota, Florida, where Ava Corley, Cutter Williams, Drew Polk, and Michael Rech started their pro careers while the rest of the class waited for the desert racing at the legendary Black Mountain BMX. With a long season ahead, be on the lookout for the new racers to work their way up the ranks and fight to finish in the top five overall for that first-year payout at the end of 2024!
Most importantly, make sure to take note of this year’s Rookie Pro class as you start to develop your pick for the 2024 Rookie Pro of the Year. From their social media presence, race results, style, and overall RADness, the Golden Cranks are in your hands leading up to the Pro Spectacular in Tulsa.

Kicking off our fifth season in 2024, USA BMX Freestyle will launch an expanded series that includes rider access at every park in the country via a digital series ranked by state.
The 2024 National Series, once again presented by long-time partner Hyper BMX, consists of a multi-avenue approach that includes access for riders in all regions. With a points structure that is as simple as 4-1-1, it allows riders to gain points in three different event atmospheres judged by Olympic-caliber judges, all while giving riders the opportunity to compete against others within their skill and age at both their home parks and some of the most famous, world-class facilities.
At the grassroots level and available to every rider in the world, the USA BMX State Series is the digital grassroots component to the series that creates easy access for every rider nationwide. The State Series is a competition that is completely digital. This series allows a rider to submit their filmed run at any skatepark in the world. The seven rounds of competition give a rider the opportunity to count their four best digital scores to their overall national ranking and compete for the State Title within each state ranking at the digital level.
The newest component of competition with USA BMX for 2024 is the Regional Series, which allows riders to get involved in the Series at the live competition level and be judged in a competition
parks and sanctioned by USA BMX for ranking. The Regional Series will provide five rounds of competition with the same age and skill level that is consistent with the USA BMX ranking system and give the riders the opportunity to earn one score to their overall National ranking.
The staple of USA BMX Freestyle is a complete facility takeover by USA BMX staff and a fullcaliber event that is hosted in conjunction with the popular Mongoose AM-Jam. With three rounds of competition and one Final round to belt the champions, it allows riders to utilize their best score from one round plus the Final to complete the riders 4-1-1 for maximum points in the yearend ranking.
Points are accumulated for a maximum total of the riders best four digital State Series submissions, 1 Regional score, and 1 National score - plus “THE FINALS” event held at the season end, where the championship belts are strapped on to the newest USA BMX champions each year. Detailed qualification information can be found at usabmxf. com/411.
We look forward to seeing our Freestyle BMX family of nearly half-a-decade compete again in 2024 for the famous USA BMX championship belt. If you have not yet joined the USA BMX family, this is the year to become a member and compete where everyone rides!
And away we go. A big year for BMX in the US kicks off at one of the most legendary facilities. Celebrating 50 years of racing, Sarasota BMX has been the track to start thousands of BMX careers, the site of countless National-level events, and now the place where 2024 begins its charge. With Amateurs chasing World Qualification and Pros chasing the perfect start to their season, the Sunshine State Nationals had plenty of obstacles to overcome.
We should know by now there’s no guarantee the Sunshine State will live up to its name, and while our weekend got a few rays peaking out through the clouds, Mother Nature showed up to the season opener. Thankfully, like all great Florida BMX tracks, the rainy conditions were easily swept off into the infield, and the race was on for 2024. First on deck for the opener? The high-flying Pros action.
The top of the sport had some big excitement leading up to the first weekend of the year, and while the entree list was a little lighter than we would have hoped, the racers who rolled into the gate delivered tenfold. Each year, in the back end of the PULL BMX archives, names populate an Excel spreadsheet titled “ROOKIE PROS.” At Sarasota BMX, three racers made their debut into the pro classes taking advantage of the lighter crowd on the moto sheets. While Ava Corley, Cutter Williams, and Drew Polk have had experience racing off the big hill, going from fan to competitor can be a daunting task. Snapping out of the gate with their former heroes by their sides, the three rooks raced the weekend with the young’un excitement on their sides.
For Ava Corley and the Women Pro class, the racing was put into a total point best of three, with only six women pros making

the trip to Sarasota. From the first to the third, the Women Pro laps saw each of the ladies displaying their off-season progression. Felicia Stancil kicked off the racing in fast form, locking up the round one low point each day. However, it was the Tulsa local, Payton Ridenour, who got the edge on the class with impressive first straights. With her elbows in front and a successful launch off the backside into turn one, Ridenour took home the total points racing all three days, prompting the broom to be brought out for a sweep of the weekend. All eyes were on the Mongoose ride, but the ladies put in the work bringing Stancil a pair of second places and Lexis Colby powering to the Saturday night third place on board her new Supercross BMX Vision F1. Completing the Friday night Answer Dagger podium was the podium machine, Lauren Reynolds. Making the trip from Chula Vista, CA, Reynolds is looking determined to find the top step in 2024. A part of the Willoughby training program, the #21 bike is only getting started as she hits the season on the bike and in the content game.
With the hotbed of BMX brands and racers dominating the state, Florida has its next great matchup in the Men Pro class with Kamren Larsen and Answer BMX. Announced just before the start of the new year, Larsen and the Sawyer family start a new journey bringing fans the Answer to Larsen’s sponsorship vacancy. With a new logo on his sleeves, and a new steed under his fast twitch legs, Larsen waited no time on Friday, getting the low points and the prime gate pick for his semi and main. The main event gate slapped down on the big hill, and the Bakersfield OG went for a
Jakob Kaiser had his eyes on the prize through the weekend in SuperX and Junior Men. Chasing down the FAST Brazilian, Lucas Zimmermann, elder Kaiser brother capped off the weekend in the 17-20x and Junior main event. The FullTilt Brazilian, Zimmermann locked in some impressive finishes taking home the Saturday SuperX and Sunday Junior Men win.
Champagne showers for the fans with Alfredo Campo taking the top spot on Saturday night in Sarasota. wireto-wire win. With an extra $250 Holeshot thanks to his new boss and the first win of the season, Larsen turned around past the finish line to see his former teammate Anthony Bucardo and fellow Floridian transplant, Alfredo Campo, joining him on the podium. The weather began to rile up overnight and into the morning, creating a unique opportunity for pro racing. A Super X and Pro racing night show brought BMX action under the lights once again, and the camping crowd loved every minute of it. The stands were packed, the fence line was rowdy, and the action was heating up the night skies of Sarasota. Taking third place the day before, Alfredo Campo was ready for more on Day Two, and you could see his determination with each lap. Getting ready to go head to head with Larsen, the semi-main saw turn three heartbreak as Pedro Benalcazar found the faster line through the final turn. A split-second tire-to-tire rub took Larsen off his carve, leaving his A-main hopes right there in turn three. While Larsen took home the B-main win, Alfredo Campo took his chance to bring home a Day Two win. Towing round the hometown hero, Joey Leto, the two Floridians crossed the line with Anthony Bucardo rounding out the podium.
Even though Anthony Bucardo spun out of the gate, he put on an impressive performance, cutting through the competition and passing Benalcazar down the last straight.
Over on the 5-meter hill, the old dogs of BMX charged the track with some familiar and returning faces on the gate. With two-time National No.1 Vet Barry Nobles in the lineup on Friday, his regular competitors looked to see if their off-season training closed the gap to take a piece out of the Alabama Slamma speed. Down the first straight, Barry’s speed and track skills stepped above the rest once again; however, Justin Riddell brought a good challenge to the class throughout the race day. Come main event time, the battle for the Vet Pro top spot brought the two shoulder to shoulder, but with a last-ditch effort to return to the left side, Justin Riddell lost his speed allowing Nobles to pull away and hit social media with the #WinWithChase hashtag. As the Vets got on the podium to celebrate their Day One win, a wind gust started to pack up the Chase Bicycles tent, which made a tough decision a little easier for Barry Nobles to head home a day early. Capitalizing on the opportunity to lock in a win, Riddell headed into the night show gate with a win in his sights. The moisture in the air brought an extra challenge to the Vet Pro main event, with gates 6-78 spinning and Riddell charging to the lead, the Wal-Tec Engineering Vet took home the second win of the season.
Our favorite story of the weekend came from the South Park racer, Gavin Stazetski. Torquing off his crank on his second pedal in a SuperX moto, the 110% Nutrition/Blackcrown BMX racer powered back to make it above the moto cut and win the Friday Main Event.
Bar-to-bar searching for the lead. The Women Pro class is as even as ever in 2024 making the Title chase that much more exciting to watch.
Making memories one race at a time. The little local, Aedan Hargaden took to his home track locking in a fourth and second in 11 Novice.

Palm trees surrounding the pond, over-under bridge lines, and always a fun race day vibe, Punta Gorda, Florida, had the task of hosting stop two of the USA BMX Series, succeeding tenfold. Welcoming the masses to their starting gate, the local Charlotte BMX racers were joined by hundreds of traveling racers as they looked to extend their time in the Florida weather.
With Worlds Qualifier and Pro Series action hitting the track the weekend prior, the Citrus State Nationals got to work with National point implications ri season has more chances for national scores than ever before, the early season scores come with a confidence stamp for racers and new dominators through each class. All three days of racing in Punta Gorda brought excitement for the season ahead as continuing dominance from the year before and debuting off-season gains met bar-to-bar around the track.
Kicking off with the cruiser battles that ignited the 24” i ladies’ cruiser classes showed off their big wheel speed through the unique track layout of Charlotte BMX. 2024 National No.1 Girls Cruiser, Landon Burian, used the momentum gained from the previous weekend and put the black plate out front. While Burian put down fast big wheel laps, the battles were intense, with Camryn Searfoss hot on her back wheel. The two racers, separated by thousands of miles, meet on the national scene once again for some legendary battles. Hunting for the top spot, the ladies were joined by former National No.1 Cruiser, Lily Ashley, who showed off her new ride speed and spoiled the clean sweep by taking home the Saturday win.
With early season dominators showing their speed in Florida, the Girls/Women Cruiser classes had an abundance of dual bike domination. The Baby Mangler, Malia Alvarez, hit the Florida sunshine with fast laps, locking in the class and cruiser wins and the Citrus State triple-double weekend. From Oklahoma ladies, Camdyn Cole and Keeaira Sherrill, taking home multiple wins on both bikes, to local hero Sarah Strayer showing the ladies of 31-40 the fast lines through her home track, the weekend in Punta Gorda, with the added battles from Sarasota racing the weekend before, set up the season to rival the best. The on-track action in the #GirlsClub sparked a winning ripple effect on the National scenes as FullTilt’s Remy Sessa, Gabriella Dyer, and Sadie Herrera brought the six-time National No.1 Factory Team the team sheet sweep through the weekend. But Sadie wasn’t the only Herrera family member to bring home a win for her team.
We’ve watched this kid continue to grow through the years, and in 2024, Andrew Herrera
up and
pedal eyes to the exit, 13x laid down the power with W4 Adolfo Moratelli and NAG 13 Laudie Harashe. LEFT: 11 Cruiser is filled to the brim with talent, especially when NAT 57 Jaxsyn Horne and NAG 4 Marshall Warner get on track.has finally done it: a 20” National win. Joining the BMX Sharks squad at the end of 2023, Herrera has shown his speed in both his cruiser and class, but that class win has eluded him until now. Taking the boys for a hot lap in 17-20x’s Friday main, the Georgia local helped his BMX Sharks squad lock in the Bike Shop teamsheet win. Looking to go back to back on Saturday, The Sharks rider went for a wild one out of turn two. Leading the race through the second straight and charging to the bridge, Herrera blew a clip and seat-bounced over the step up. Fully airborne off the bike, Herrera came to a dead stop against the side of the bridge. A couple of minutes to catch his breath and a quick BMXer leg and arm check, he was on his feet and hyping up the crowd.
Herrera on Friday, Nolan Cardwell capitalizing on Saturday, and the Terminator, Nate Loy, laying down a fast lap to round out the 17-20x racing; the class has more winning capable riders than ever. Backpedaling to the younger boys in the Expert ranks, a certain Florida based brand had the track on lock, taking home impressive wins all weekend. The Answer BMX boys put in some serious work and collectively brought 10 wins back to the boss. Chayse Eckl in 8x, Coye Weidner in 10x, and Landon Donnelly in 12x used their speed and skills to make the most of their Citrus State Nationals racing.
BMX in Florida has been a powerhouse in the sport for a long time. With iconic tracks, racers, and brands, the state has been home to iconic moments throughout the BMX history books, and in 2024, it was host to another. The 66 & Over Cruiser class gets its first laps on the track as Robert Wellins, Dempsey Stocker, and Chuck Fieldson make the first group of legendary racers. With a long season ahead, the BMX family heads home from their two-week racing vacation, remembering their fun times and noting the things to work on as a big year of BMX continues into 2024.
Full steam ahead with NAG 7 Zahra Urena and NAG 5 Daisy Noyola leading the last straight charge in 9x Girls.Competitors and friends, Gold Cup No.1 John Pringle and NAG No.1 Tom Johnson celebrate a great weekend in Punta Gorda.

We don’t know if it’s the desert views or the beautiful sunsets, but there’s just something about Black Mountain BMX that gets us gitty about BMX. The National crew heads over to the track from their Gilbert office, banners are hung, cameras are set up and the Winter Nationals racing prepares for action. In 2024 the dirt track had a little excitement thanks to Mother Nature but new Track Operators Bubba Harris and Karl Clark tackled their shovel head duties. Pulling an overnight shift after a multi-day track work session. Their hard work paid off in the end bringing a true dirt track environment to the racing action.
The third race of the USA BMX National series brought pros back to the desert for the first time since the 2021 opener and the new track layout laid the stage for small hill power to shine. While you may think that means someone from outside the US National team would take charge of the weekend, you forget that Mr. 30’, Kam Larsen is West Coast born and raised and felt right at home snapping off holeshot laps at Black Mountain. Larsen wasn’t the only winner returning to the Mountain as Alise Willoughby, who missed the season opener, ramped up her race legs down the first straight just as she did in her first Pro race back in 2006. Unlike her 2006 race laps, Willoughby kept it up right and powered to a weekend sweep from Friday to Sunday. The racing action was tight and as the #3 bike of Larsen and #11 bike of Willoughby climbed to the top of the podium, their competition was fierce all the way through the weekend.
Hailing from Tucson, AZ, Daleny Vaughn was given the Desert Destroyer monicker by her coach Tyler Brown a couple of years back, and that name rang true through the race laps in Phoenix. Catching our eye in Friday’s practice with a run through the pro set, Vaughn followed that up with an impressive first three rounds. Hitting her marks down the first straight, which was perfect for her style of riding, and dialing in the steep and tight second straight, Vaughn gave the 11x champ a run for her money into turn one. With good pressure on the inside, it just wasn’t enough to knock Willoughy off her winning ways, settling for second place in front of the podium queen Lauren Reynolds.
The Answer BMX Aussie has been consistent through the first four scores of the season, and while Payton Ridenour and Willoughby hit the rankings with two wins each, Reynolds joined her Answer BMX teammate Kamren Larsen as point leaders with three podium finishes and a fifth for a total of 310 points to kick off the season.
The ladies repeating podiums for the USA BMX Pro Series points were impressive enough, but the whole field of ladies had a hunger for those small hill finishes. A face missing for a couple of years brought the hometown cheers to the fence line as Fly Racing’s Ashley Verhagen hit the track and led the ladies through Black Mountain BMX. From a familiar face to a new one, Jacy Moore showed off her Rookie Pro fierceness battling the field into the Semis and coming out with a spot in the Women Pro A-Main on both days. With her first pro race under her belt, we’re excited to see Moore’s career and confidence grow.
Speaking of confidence and fierceness, how about that Men Pro racing? US favorites going to battle, Olympic Gold Medalist Niek Kimmann stopping in to snag a podium spot, and a whole lot of young gun speed had us chomping at the bit for more. Answer BMX’s Kamren Larsen came to Cam Wood’s backyard and stamped the weekend with the Answer BMX Logo taking home both wire-to-wire wins. An all out battle through each lap with the two top dogs was capped off with a UCI Sunday blast in turn three that had a mixed reaction throughout BMX social. Does a winning chance justify going for the move? Yes. However, in an Olympic year, on a race day that was scheduled solely so the US riders could gain some much-needed country points, the only two riders able to bump those Country points went from first and second to sixth and seventh. Corben Sharrah avoided the carnage and grabbed the win, but since he’s outside of the top three US Olympic ranking, his score does nothing to the country overall. While it was a great moment for the crowd and will definitely thicken the storylines for the title showdown
Matthew Weerts rocking his new Albes colors for the season gets his flow going in Friday’s practice. With a lot of potential, will Weerts be in the title talk later this season?later in the season, we would have liked to see the USA boys sweep the UCI podium and save the all-or-nothing blasts for the USA BMX Pro Series point opportunities.
Maddux Vicario on the point into turn one in 14x. Teammate Colton Kidd on his tail, the Sharks are looking dominant in 2024.
Debatable moves aside, the whole start list of Men Pro came with something to prove. Rookie Pro Brody Cole came to debut his speed into the class with leading motos and semi main laps. Cam Bramer, while ending his race day in two fantastic crashes on Saturday and Sunday, came with a new level of speed we haven’t seen from the South Park local. On his Professional athlete grind, Anthony Bucardo was showing some promise to be a consistent top four guy throughout the season. We still believe he is a top four contender, a freak collision in Saturday’s main event resulted in multiply fractures in his spine, putting him on the sidelines for a few months. Watching his fellow Tucson racer rip it up in the Women Pro ranks, Corben Sharrah brought his effortless riding style to the desert once again. Being the elder statesman of the class, 2024 and the #24 bike have high hopes, as his class of racers are dominating the BMX world.
Watching their former competiton in AA Pro still hold his own in the Men Pro class, The Vet Pro ranks welcomed a new face to the starting gate. Corey Reid has been in and out of the sport for the past couple years, however, his debut into the Veteran
Shredding the axe with The Waterboy, James Walkington, to kick off the Winter Nationals weekend!
Class has us asking the question, “Can Reid overthrow the Barry Nobles reign?” Showing a fast first straight against Big Jeff Upshaw and second pedal specialist Alan Hudson, the Phoenix local seems to have the speed and skill to make a Vet title run, however, one good showing isn’t going to be enough for us to make that call, especially when Nobles, Peebles, Falla, Romero, and Upshaw line up next to him in the gate. Regardless, the Vet Pro class will have another fun year of battles.
That was just the pros… the amateur battles were next level in their own right, but, we want to make sure we highlight two major storylines that will have definite title implications.
17-20x is in a world of trouble with Sean Day in the class. The 2021 National No.1 Amateur, 2x World No.1, and 2023 NAG 5 Winner, the Factory FullTilt/Radio rider charged into the class with startling speed. The 17-20x does have that “anything can happen” factor, but with a dominating entree into the class it will be tough to catch the WA racer in 2024.
The second must cover action charges out of the Girls class where a new pick up from Race INC snags a win from Double A Alexis Alden. Using her home track advantage in Sunday’s Main event, Derin Merten tucked into the perfect turn three carve and charged to the line for a photo finish. The 2023 National No.1 Girl is a hard one to beat, but the last straight speed from Merten wowed the crowd as the fence line held their breath for the call at the line. Alexis Alden is still the outright top dog of the 15-16x class but we’ll be watching closely as her competition sneaks away big scores from her trophy room.
Heston Novotny looks to win with Chase and fend off the Dylan Myers shark attack in 9x.

The dust settles from the shovelheads, pit spaces get marked out on the mezzanine, and chalk gets rolled out across the track. Indoor racing is back.
Short-track sketchiness shakes the cobwebs off the race legs of the East, bringing the largest race of the year so far to the Blue Ridge Mountains. Billy Allen and the track crew set the stage with a battle-ready track, and the series racers wasted no time perfecting the fast lines around it. With pedal manual capabilities creating a first straight cheat code, Matthew Weerts showed his off in the Men Pro/Am and 17-20x. Battling with Pro/ Am winners Cam Wing and Cam Bramer through the day, Weerts capitalized on the extra race laps with a big 61 rider score in 17-20x. Splitting the wins with Full Tilt’s Joshua Trerise, thanks to a textbook turn-three move on Sunday, the two came out of the Lexington weekend with a weight off their shoulders and one less win on their to-do list.
The Blue Ridge Nationals debuted the indoor action and impressive young gun speed as the Women Pro/Am highlighted some new 14-year-olds that aged into the class. Mia Custer and Landon Burian wasted no time getting in the action throughout the pack. Mixed in with Golden Crank winner Breanna Winters, National No.1 Alexis Alden, and college kids gearing up for their National Championships, the two slotted in nicely, proving their power down the first straight and beyond. Their battles didn’t stop there as the 14 Girls class had another round of heated battles, with Landon and Mia splitting the wins on Saturday and Sunday. Just one class later, the 15-16 Girls of Alexis Alden and Sadie Herrera, the best friends, were at it again, chasing each other around the 800foot track. Splitting the class wins for the 15-16x Girl class, the Peachtree City racers always prove their love for the Virginia Horse Center with faster-than-fast laps.
The Georgia presence was felt throughout the weekend up in Virginia as locals from Cobb County BMX put down fast laps throughout the day on Saturday, making a nice surprise for Margie Hatfield on Sunday morning after Cobb County BMX took home the track vs track top spot with a big 360+ score.
A combo of small track and big wheels made for some great racing in the weekend, kicking off with the youngsters in 8 & under girls cruiser. ‘Smiley’ Kylie Sheppard swept the class thanks to her freaky fast
training and from there the domination continued.
In 11–12 girls cruiser, Jemma Tollefson strung together an impressive undefeated weekend in cruiser and class, making her BOX boss Toby Henderson proud. The Northern speed continued with fellow Minnesotan, Alec Taylor, taking home the 12 Cruiser win on Saturday night.
The boy’s big wheel racing took to the track and dug into the blue groove, winners from all across the nation joined together in the winner’s circle. Sean Lehew from Florida, 14 Cruiser Daniel Waters out of California, AJ Amico with the NY 15-year-old power, all the way to Dennis ‘Yogi’ Ybarra taking the 66 & Over Cruiser win back to Flint, MI.
Over to the Expert class battles, the ladies locked in on the fast lines and used the first turn as their catapult to victory. In 10x Girls Keely Nelson showed that off perfectly during Saturday’s main event, locking in on the low carve to grab the holeshot and first of two class wins in Virginia.
From a low line in turn one to a low line in turn two, the 14x Boys had quite an eventful time around the short track. Evenly matched at the beginning of the year, anyone can win when the gate slaps down. With a strong first straight in Sunday’s main, Danny Waters led the pack into turn two, where Bryan Shatswell III saw the open door. With a towering hit and a pile-up at the exit of the turn, Bryce Cauley tried to capitalize on the carnage; the win came and went for the LSG ride, sliding out in turn three, causing the fans to continue their roar as Maddux Vicario stretched for the win at the line. With a heated class only getting hotter, we look forward to seeing more battles from the 14x class and the rest of the BMX family.
Aiden Guidry fights off the competition through turn two in 13x.Noah Barton came to show off those Colle giate ponies but we got distracted by his style throughout each lap.

Starting their journey into the supplement and hydration market in January of 2020, Jim Mennuti, and his Son AJ, took the leap of faith into creating a clean and effective product to support athletes without over chemicalized ingredients. Charging the market through a global pandemic, 110% Nutrition found its roots in BMX on the state level via the Sunshine State BMX series and have continued to grow. From rocking a Walmart tent at Louisville’s Derby City Nationals, to having a major team on the USA BMX National Series, Jim and AJ are in the business of supporting riders above all else.
The Red, White, and Black colors of the brand can be found across BMX tracks across the country, but the brand is still focused on the family values. With a “be a good person” attitude for the riders repping their brand, the two have seen riders flourish on the track without the pressure of results making the 110% pits the perfect place to focus on fun. Taking the brand to the international level for the first time in 2023, supporting members of Team USA and claiming their first National No.1 Title, thanks to Brody Cole’s Amateur Title, the Family Brand is taking the BMX world by storm their way - Clean products and positive vibes for everyone they meet.

Tucked away in our own corner of Bakersfield, stop five of the USA BMX National tour brings big battles to Metro BMX. The now iconic water tower watches from the background, and train conductors hang their heads out in intrigue as they pass by. The Golden State Nationals bring the California power to the webcast as racers fight for a spot on Team USA and early season National points. The 292 Motos got the National racing started on Saturday, and with the adrenaline of Friday’s world qualifier getting the wheels rolling, the weekend’s momentum was unstoppable.
Taking the action to another level was the Black and White kits of Answer BMX. Over 2,500 miles away from their headquarters in Palm Harbor, FL, the Answer BMX brand hit big in Bakersfield, taking home both Saturday and Sunday’s Factory team sheet win, thanks to their fast crew of racers. Brentwood, CA, dominator, Cruz Gonzales, brought home the big score for the team on Day One, thanks to his win in 13x. Charging on the two spot behind Jake Eland, Gonzales spotted the open door and made the move in turn two. Shutting it behind him at the exit of the turn, 64 points were added to the sheet, with another win on the way in 14x. New to the squad, Eian Gibson jumped up from the Clayborn crew to see what he could do in the black and white. Charging out of gate four, the ROC one got out front and got gone. As his dad cheered from the fence line, Gibson’s win made an impact not only on the sheet but also on his confidence with their new training program paying off. Back for more in Sunday’s main event, his Answer BMX teammate, Danny Waters, joined the winner’s circle, thanks to a textbook bump and run.
Trailing behind the Shark, Shatty Shattswell, Waters saw the move develop in front of him, and made the line stick. Touching tires at the apex, Shatswell found himself at the bottom of the turn while Danny Waters added 64 points to the Sunday team sheet. A constant throughout the Answer BMX team sheets and the entire weekend was the winning ways of Preslie Gould. The 14-year-old Vegas local was unbeatable around Metro BMX, taking home the W in every single lap, motos to main. With a birthday in her future, jumping into the 15-16x Girls class, Gould is in good form to make an impact in the Premier Girls Club class. While the Factory and Bike Shop battles were heating up the team standings, the battles on the track brought some big moments for the early NAG and National point chases. In 17-20x, W1 Sean Day looked to be a favorite to sweep the weekend, and even with a Pro/Am win on Friday and the class win on Saturday, his long-time friend and on-track rival upset the sweep. We saw them battling in 15x, 16x, and now in the hardest class in BMX, True
as Deegan Brown and Levi Folkrod charge into turn one in 17-20x.
LEFT: Racing out of Henderson, NV, Brandon Aguilar was on point in 15 Cruiser.Bailey and Sean Day are back at it in 17-20x. Down the first straight in Sunday’s main event, the Impact rider laid down the perfect double pedal manual over the first jump to edge his elbow in front of Day, and that was it. Gunning to the inside into turn one, Bailey shut down the lowline option and held on to the lead for dear life. When the last-ditch effort wasn’t enough in turn three, the win was solidified for Vegas’ True Bailey.
In 41-45x, a battle royale kept everyone in the stands through the weekend. Tarik Assagai and Justin Wike have had plenty of race laps through the years, but in Bakersfield, they couldn’t get away from each other. In cruiser and class Assagai and Wike went to war during the weekend, and while it looked like the Next Gen/ Elite Bicycles had the weekend after Saturday’s mains, Justin Wike evened the score to two all with a pair of Sunday wins for himself. Avoiding the rain all weekend during the race days and enjoying time with our Metro BMX family, the Golden State Nationals treated us to another great time in Bakersfield, itching to return for more fun times.
“I’M GOING TO THE WORLDS”
A lot of excitment in Bakersfield as the final batch of racers make the cut ahead of the 2024 World Championships in Rock Hill, SC.
Look mean, race mean and Cash Jackson has every inch of intimidation on his side in 14x.
The ladies were out in forces at the Golden State Nationals, from competitors on the track to friends off, it was good vibes all weekend long.
Balance Bikers all staged up and ready to hit the track with #556 Cami Pelton debuting her push bike speed.

GRAND PRIX BMX MAKING REDBONE PROUD
Karter Hart - 11x
“I would say that the end of last year after Mikes passing it was a lot of everyone coming together not only for his family but also for the track and all the locals kids.” “GP is for sure more than just another BMX Track for us local kids, it’s a place Mike would let us be kids and just have fun. And Austin is still allowing us to keep that alive.”
Chad Harper - 26-30x
“Since Bone’s passing, GP has never felt more close knit. Everyone rides with everyone and it feels like all riders want to see each other succeed!”
The voice of BMX is smiling down on the GPBMX crew. Rallying behind the legacy that Redbone created, local racers, volunteers, and spectators are bringing a community like no other to Mike Redman’s World Famous BMX track.
Here’s what some local rippers have to say about the track’s reignited community.
Kylie Martin - 17-20x Girl
“All around positive! Everyone is so supportive and open to teaching you new things, whether you’ve been there for 10 years or 10 minutes. There’s such a broad range of personalities and ages, but we all share the same love for Mike and the awesome facility that Redbone left us with.”
RUM RIVER’S NEW BUILD
‘The House that BMX Built’ gets a new layout ahead of the 2024 season and it looks beautiful. Complete with a first straight drag strip, room to boost big sends, and a three/four to test out your creativity, the venue for the 2024 Land O’ Lakes Nationals is primed and ready to go. In addition to
having a new layout, Rum River BMX also celebrates their top honors earning No.1 Track in the Country! With a huge beginner program and National riders flocking to the track, Minnesota and its surrounding states are truly lucky to have Rum River BMX.
EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP BMX’S NEW ASPHALT TOP
Gearing up for their big 2024 season, EHT BMX gets a new surface to elevate their already fast and fun track. A gem of the Northeast, Egg Harbor is set to host the Northeast Gold Cup Finals (September 13-15) and the new asphalt coat will only elevate the weekend of Gold Cup action. Home to some of the most skilled and stylish racers on the National circuit, New Jersey racers are tried and true BMXers.

REMEMBERING DONNY RIVARD
December 20, 1953 — February 9, 2024
The Godfather of Minnesota BMX sadly passed away on February 9th, 2024. Opening his doors to the BMX family through Rehbeins BMX, Donny Rivard is known to many as the man who helped build BMX in the state. Providing a place to ride yearround, Rivard saw thousands of racers on the track, but it was off the track where his memory lives on. As the owner of the Rehbeins BMX, Rivard opened his doors to the public and provided families in the area a place to continue their BMX lives through the winter months. Ride in Peace, Donny.
Get stoked for Summer!
The USA BMX Foundation will host its third summer of camps at the Hardesty National BMX Stadium, and we can’t wait to welcome the 2024 students for a full lineup of activities that balance learning with action and physical fitness. Campers will build confidence learning how to ride and race on the BMX track, learn basic bike maintenance, design their own scalemodel BMX track, go on field trips to local parks, and have the chance to meet BMX Olympians. We can promise you one thing…they will not be bored!

BEYOND THE BERM
Find The BMX Endless Summer at Okeeheelee BMX
Calling all BMX enthusiasts and endless summer seekers! Are you ready to ride the #1 Track in the Eastern United States which is open for training just about every day of the year? Look no further than Okeeheelee BMX in sunny South Florida. Nestled in the corner of an award winning 1700 acre community park in Palm Beach County, our track offers an unparalleled riding experience that will leave you craving more training and racing action. Join us as we dive into what sets Okeeheelee BMX apart and why it should be your next destination for BMX travel and title racing destination.
OUR HISTORY:
With a name like Okeeheelee, you can bet that everyone new to the sport gets confused over all the vowels in the name. The name origin of Okeeheelee Park derives from the Miccosukee Indian word "Okee-hee-the," which translates to "quiet waters." Today, Okeeheelee BMX is surrounded by water on three sides, which make up a competition ski complex and a cable drawn wake boarding park. The entire park has been developed as an action sports park including 18 hole golf course, dog park, frisbee golf, kayaking, baseball and soccer fields.
Our track was founded in 1988 and has historically boasted exciting features like the “S-Turn” and the “Jump Turn.” It has evolved greatly from a tarp covered shellrock track, to an all weather slurry surface with asphalt turns and a hydraulic gate that has more annual gate drops than any other track with a counter.
UNLEASH YOUR POTENTIAL:
At Okeeheelee BMX, we believe in pushing the boundaries of what's possible on two wheels. Our track is meticulously designed to challenge riders of all skill levels, from beginners to seasoned pros. Whether you're hitting the track for the first time or honing your skills for National and International competition, our diverse layout and top-notch facilities provide the perfect playground to
unleash your full potential.
We have three licensed USA BMX coaches that host private and public group training year round. At any time they are available for on or off track training.
We have two training sessions every week that are specifically for our first time riders. This allows them to have a stress free experience guided by one of our coaching staff and has been the cornerstone of our new rider procurement success.
WORLD-CLASS FACILITIES:
Step into a world of BMX excellence with our state-ofthe-art facilities at Okeeheelee BMX. Our track features premium amenities designed to enhance your riding experience, including: a custom-designed track layout that offers two straights with decision makers, jumps, berms, and rhythm sections. As a matter of fact, our final straight was modeled after the Rio Olympics rhythm section. We have a separate small balance bike track for little kids to learn how to ride safely, separate from the faster pedal bikes.
A new 40x100 ft staging shelter, providing athletes protection from the elements while waiting for the gate to drop.
Our concession boasts a very popular race night bbq grill
and hot food that will satisfy the entire family at the end of their work day. It is a huge part of the special sauce of our success.
We have 30 new rental bikes including Micro-mini all the way to XXXL, and 30 helmets of every size so that athletes that are visiting or racers that haven’t quite committed to a bike of their own yet can race confidently on the industry’s newest frames and lightweight properly fitted helmets.
THRIVING BMX COMMUNITY:
We are proud of our 100 parent volunteers who support this vibrant community of BMX enthusiasts and riders at Okeeheelee BMX. Our average rider count is around 130-150 riders every single point race night and it is not completely uncommon to have semi’s in our 5 and under classes. Our track is more than just a place to ride – it's a gathering spot where friendships are forged, skills are honed, and memories are made. Whether you're a local rider or visiting from out of town, you'll feel right at home among our welcoming community of riders, coaches, and volunteers.
Our track offers the opportunity to everyone to ride on the Home Track Team, “The Okeeheelee All Stars.” This team offers an instant supporting community to all the riders and helps them to navigate race night and title races. This open team concept has turned into one of the most successful parts of rider retention and mentoring parent volunteers.
ENDLESS OPPORTUNITIES FOR GROWTH:
At Okeeheelee BMX, the journey never ends. Whether you're looking to compete at the highest level or simply improve your skills for personal satisfaction, our track offers endless opportunities for growth and development. From structured training programs led by experienced coaches to weekly races and special events, there's always something new to challenge and inspire you on your BMX journey.
PLAN YOUR VISIT:
Ready to experience the thrill of BMX excellence at Okeeheelee BMX? Plan your visit today and discover why riders from across the country are making the trip to South Florida for the ultimate BMX experience. Whether you're a beginner looking to learn the ropes or a seasoned pro seeking new challenges, there's something for everyone at Okeeheelee BMX. You will know when you get that move up win before we do, the easiest way to keep track is to keep a pocket calendar with your gear bag and on the day you race note the track and your finish!
Your age on the website is posted based on the points you are looking at – District will show your age at the end of the season 12/15; State/Provincial will show your age at your state/provincial final; Gold Cup will show your age at the Gold Cup final for your region.
SIG MISSING…means we did not receive the signed application, go to the website, login to your online profile, click on Riders and then on Submit Digital Signature and follow the prompts!
If you move, you still have to contact Membership (membership@ usabmx.com) to get your address changed on your membership record and continue to receive the magazine (for first family memberships).
Thank you for your support of BMX, great luck to you all this season and remember...BE SAFE AND HAVE FUN!
