quarter of the world’s population is anemic. Of this quarter, iron deficiency is thought to account for half the cases of anemia, though there are other causes of anemia such as: malaria, infections and other nutritional
deficiencies. Due to most cases of anemia being accounted for by iron deficiency it will be the main focus of this article. In particular, some of the causes of iron-deficiency-anemia and its management will be addressed.
