30TH ANNUAL SAN DIEGO MUSIC AWARDS / LOCAL MUSIC’S BIGGEST NIGHT! The 30th Annual San Diego Music Awards took place on August 24 before a full house under the stars at Humphrey’s Concerts by the Bay. The show was once again held before a live audience after going digital in 2020, with nineteen awards handed out, as well as two Lifetime Achievement trophies, one to guitarist Jerry Raney (The Farmers) and an Industry Award given to Liz Abbott of the

San Diego Troubadour. Returning to the beautiful waterfront setting of Humphrey’s, the SDMA’s lived up to their reputation as the local music scene’s biggest party of the year, with a celebratory crowd cheering on a live soundtrack provided by nominees Electric Mud, Marujah, The Farmers, Brisa Lauren, Cindy Lee Berryhill with Joyce Rooks and Renata Bratt, Ed Kornhauser and Chick-

en Bone Slim. Funds raised by the awards show go to the San Diego Music Foundation’s Guitars for Schools Program, bringing music education back to the area’s kids and giving attendees, through their ticket purchases and donations, the opportunity to do a good deed while taking in some of the best music San Diego has to offer. Plans are already underway for next year’s edition.
