Thursday, Aug. 10, 7 p.m. Amitava Bhattacharjee, a professor of astrophysical sciences at Princeton University and head of the theory department at Princeton Plasma Physics Lab, will cover the science behind the Aug. 21 solar eclipse and help people understand what they will see. Community Room Lecture: “Paintings of the Eclipse by Howard Russell Butler” Wednesday, Aug. 16, 7 p.m. Rachel LaRue, associate professor of American art at Princeton University, discusses the 1918 paintings of the total solar eclipse by portrait and landscape artist Howard Russell Butler. Butler was a graduate of Princeton University’s first school of science. Community Room
