MARILU TAPIA (MT)

PGMAG: Marilu, great to have you on today’s interview with Lady Anita.

MT: Thank you, it is my pleasure to be here today.

PGMAG: Please briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

MT: I am Marilu Tapia, the founder of “Good Growth”; after my own healing from a torn meniscus, leaving an abusive relationship and losing my restaurant; I built a successful company starting from zero. And now I am connected to my soul’s purpose. I got certified as a

Transformational Coach and an Energy Healer.

I wanted to help people and I know is totally possible for my clients to have the ability to do ANYTHING that involves the knee-pain free.

PGMAG: As the Founder of Good Growth Coaching, what are some of the keys to living a fulfilled life?

MT: All living organisms in the planet are programmed to seek the light. Biologically and mentally, human beings do that too; so, the answer to feel satisfied is filling your life with people and activities that represent light.

I personally have had to adapt to how I lead in these times and foreseeable future. Increased communications as well as clarity in expectations and deliverables is but one key.

trusted analytics – to identify priority populations, monitor capacity and efficacy, manage challenging supply chain logistics, and analyze future projections. For storage and transportation, our solutions use AI and streaming analytics to help alert, control and avoid issues effecting vaccine quality or loss.

Health care systems need to ensure that adequate, quality medical resources are available to protect public health.

Analytics help predict resource needs, including hospital capacity, personnel, and critical medical equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE).

consumers shop. From the toilet paper crisis and loading up their pantries with household products and non-perishable foods to increasing the necessity for online shopping, everything has changed. As retailers struggle to balance meeting increased demand with optimizing existing inventory, SAS can help predict and plan for demand in the short-term, mid-term, and long-term. Additionally, Intelligent Short-Term Product Substitution can be a powerful tool in helping retailers/ consumer product goods companies measure demand especially in times of high volatility such as the COVID-19 outbreak.

The applications and needs of analytics post recovery vary widely from detecting unemployment fraud, to protecting children in social services who are at-home due to closed schools and everything in between.

Recovery post-pandemic is about rebuilding but it’s also about reimaging. It’s about future-proofing your organization by building in resilience. Analytics can greatly advance our ability to predict, prevent, prepare for whatever lies ahead.

PGMAG: You have had many years of experience in leading large teams and transforming the lives of others. What are the vital keys to leading a successful team in the new world (Post-pandemic)?

MD: I personally have had to adapt to how I lead in these times and foreseeable future. Increased communications as well as clarity in expectations and deliverables is but one key. But mostly, its about increasing awareness and sensitivity and having empathy for realizing more what every individual and their families might be going through with COVID tragedies, work-from-home, home schooling children and caring for them while also working a full-day. Keeping a pulse on how teams are “feeling” is critical at times like these. Burn-out and fatigue and mental health are on my watch list for team members more than ever.

PGMAG: How relevant is the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Emotional Intelligence (EI) in today’s business world?

The current crisis significantly changed the way that

MD: (this may be a too far out there concept Lady Anita but thought I would tell you my theory)

Be a lifelong learner and find role models. No matter where you come from you are guaranteed to find many humble, great people that succeeded not by taking the easy way but by doing it their way and never giving up.

significantly larger amount of men than women in computing, and engineering. And while the analytics industry is slightly more balanced (at 30% women), it’s still underrepresented by women, especially at senior levels. Yet we know companies in the top quartile of gender diversity are staggeringly 15% more likely to exceed financial medians.

Most of the global team I now lead at SAS are women. And if not for them SAS would not be in position to stand out in industries we serve.

I’d tell women, continue to lead by example. Mentor. Talk up. Tech-up and find opportunities for advancements. And then make opportunities for women. Analytics and math and STEM are great foundational pieces

for women and young girls to blaze a path to the corporate board rooms.

PGMAG: Oftentimes people give up on their journey at the slightest appearance of difficulties. What is your message for those who are struggling with indecisions?

MD: Be a lifelong learner and find role models. No matter where you come from you

are guaranteed to find many humble, great people that succeeded not by taking the easy way but by doing it their way and never giving up. Wisdom knows how to tear down AND build. Incompetence can only destroy, but skill builds up. To be blunt, women in STEM, women in business, across all industries and women in the board room have always faced significant roadblocks and

obstacles put in their ways. This alone should act as a beacon. A source of inspiration. Despite these difficulties, the numbers are all positively trending upwards.

Every day, girls are breaking boundaries and barriers, tackling issues like child marriage, education inequality, violence, climate justice, and inequitable access to healthcare. Women are proving they are unstoppable.

PGMAG: Would you agree that ‘global collaboration’ is one of the way forward for economic recovery?

MD: Yes indeed. COVID-19 has given us all a new lens through which to view modern working. The virus has separated us from each other and unfortunately, isolation was part of the solution. Along with side consequences I’m afraid we will now be dealing with for years to come.

The way we work and collaborate will never go back to “the norm.” We now have new ways of collaborating internally and externally. New means for producing marketing events, digitally or hybrid hopefully by end of 2021 (inperson and online).

Yes indeed. COVID-19 has given us all a new lens through which to view modern working. The virus has separated us from each other and unfortunately, isolation was part of the solution. Along with side consequences I’m afraid we will now be dealing with for years to come.

The positive is the rise of remote working is eliminating boundaries and borders.

Opening a wealth of global talent possibilities for both companies and individuals liberated by a borderless recruiting process. And in doing so, help overcome perhaps the biggest toll taken on diversity and inclusion. Talent! Wherever. Whenever. Whoever - is best for the job.

PGMAG: What would you say to those who are considering a career path in Technology?

MD: I’m so blessed to have picked a career almost 40-years ago in Technology. Its been a tremendous amount

of fun. Along the journey I’ve met many people in my life that have helped give me guidance and propel my career along the way.

My first advice would be - Find mentors! Be CONNECTED.

Experts agree that the most connected people are often the most successful. When you invest in your relationships -professional and personal -- it can pay you back in dividends throughout the course of your career.

I’ve seen a real difference in the way people assert themselves when they have a trusted and supportive mentor. Plus, mentors are always willing to share their own life experience and successes, as they want to be able to part of someone else success.

My second piece of advice. Regardless of the tech-world, whatever your interest is in whatever field or industry –KNOW the end BUSINESS.

The day in the life of the people using the software and the people behind the data being analyzed by the business application.

The speed of business has never been more accelerated than now. We are on the

cusp of advanced technologies impacting all facets of life like, crypto currencies in banking, Internet of things (IoT) in retail, manufacturing, agriculture, image analysis and artificial intelligence in health care, drone technology in shipping, etc.

Bottom line is – pick an industry you love and the technology will follow you. Analytics is a massive and FUN growth industry. It’s the place to be for an exhilarating, high-profile, well-compensated career, a cornerstone of our economic future.

I would say - The future for technology has never been brighter. Just about every industry’s future depends on “IT”.

PGMAG: What were the top three books that changed your life?

MD: I once had a leader say to me “Leaders are readers” and so that struck a cord with me. Always be learning, leading.

Top books:

1. First real business book I fell in love with was “In search of Excellence: Lessons from America's Best-Run Companies" by Thomas Peters and Robert

H. Waterman. Probably one of the greatest business books of all time. A study of many companies across diverse sectors and it lays out the basic principles of management and what led to the success of the companies highlighted.

2. Built to Last: Successful Habits of Visionary Companies 1994. James C. Collins and Jerry I. Porras took eighteen great companies and studied each, from very beginnings to the present day, versus competitors. Throughout, the authors asked: "What makes the truly exceptional companies different from the comparison companies and what were the common practices these enduringly great companies followed throughout their history?"

3. The Ten Commandments for Business Failure by Donald Keough, a former top executive at Coca-Cola who became Chairman of the board for a public Company I was head of Marketing and Investor relations of. I’ve always felt that I learned from my failures just as much as my successes and Mr Keough’s book and the pleasure to get to know him helped me embrace that. This light-hearted “how-not-to” book includes anecdotes from

Keough's long career as well as other infamous failures.

PGMAG: Finally, what would you say to your younger self?

MD: Don’t be afraid to make mistakes and learn from them and move on. Be embracing of life mentors and ask for help and feedback along the way. Take more time to hit refresh and relax. I left literally hundreds of days of vacation on the table and I regret personally not taking more time off. Your mind, body and soul need it. And how you lead will be impacted from taking time to reset, rest, be curious and creative and recharged.

PGMAG: Thank you for your time today.

MD: Thank you so much for giveng me the opportunity!

PGMAG: Please share your links with us.

INTERVIEW WITH: AMBASSADOR KEITA CHEICK (AKC)

PGMAG: Ambassador, you are welcome to today's interview with Lady Anita.

AKC: I am happy to have this chance and privilege to be with you for this interview - thank you and congratulations on your initiative to create this magazine I wish you great success in audience.

PGMAG: Please briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

AKC: I am KEITA Cheick a son of Africa who studied at university in France and lives in

France. I made my career in the private sector and in the public sector at the Ministry of Finance in France.

Ambassador of the International Commission on Human Rights of the I.H.R.C. Senator of the WBAF World Business Angel Forum.

PGMAG: Sir, as a global leader, what are the

ways to promote diversity and inclusion in the workplace?

AKC: To act in favor of diversity and inclusion, companies need "measurable objectives".

Taking action presupposes having measurable goals. While more relevant than ever, diversity has been a long-standing concern in HR departments. Its benefits in the workplace have been the subject of numerous studies. Yet, in reality, many companies still struggle to promote it in the workplace.

The good news is that there are proven and effective diversity management strategies you can use to create that diverse work environment that will strengthen your business.

The main benefits of diversity in the workplace, as well as the diversity management practices that you can immediately implement the diverse work environment.

Multidimensional ideas and perspectives.

Above all else, a diverse team brings a broad set of unique perspectives with multiple dimensions, which is beneficial for the company in more than

one way. A team capable of drawing on a wide range of personal stories, experiences and ideas will be better equipped.

As a recent Wall Street Journal study suggests, which confirms that diverse and inclusive work cultures are more innovative and productive at innovating and problem solving than nondiverse teams.

PGMAG: How would you describe your leadership style?

AKC: The charismatic visionary leadership which enables the transformation of the company and which encourages the executives to think differently. A charismatic visionary leader who would raise the level in an economic context which has never been so uncertain, Like this period in which we live. The leadership which defined the objectives which aim to maintain the excellence of the teams at a high level by solving the problems and the fair treatment with a side "facilitator" at the heart of the role of the leader.

It is based on shared values which make the employees more united it is also an exemplary leadership of values for team cohesion Provide

support to people.

Nurture a sense of the collective, Demonstrate altruism, Demonstrate fairness, demonstrate integrity.

PGMAG: As a strong advocate for African development, what are your suggestions for making the African continent a great place for foreign and local investors?

AKC: Our company O.B.A.

Open Business Africa is a vessel that carries all the companies in the world wishing to invest or do business in Africa. Investing in Africa is good business and

The perfect time to invest in Africa is now, because Africa is the most profitable region in the world to be even more attractive the African continent must absolutely be dedicated to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) because, each SDG offers business solutions and investment opportunities to foreign companies on the continent.

a viable business strategy and The perfect time to invest in Africa is now because Africa is the most profitable region in the world to be even more attractive, the African continent must absolutely be dedicated to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) because, each SDG offers business solutions and investment opportunities to foreign companies on the continent.

African countries must frequently revise investment codes to make them

appropriate to the times and international conditions such as after the covid 19 pandemic.

Africa must continue to improve global governance with the overall Africa governance index which has improved at an annual rate of 1.4% since 2007, i.e. an increase of more than 5% Governments Africans should build on this positive trend to optimize foreign investment.

This means, among other things, eliminating corruption by emphasizing that the countries of the North must

also do their work of fighting corruption, cat if there are corrupt there are corrupters; improve safety and security; strengthen the macroeconomic environment; investing in quality education and skills development in science, technology and innovation; and avoid the "race to the bottom syndrome", which consists of granting unnecessary tax exemptions and exemptions to foreign companies effectively fighting cybercrime with the greatest possible means.

African governments and

private sector actors must work together to eliminate risks and improve the investment climate on the continent.

We must contribute to the development of strategies and the establishment of industrial activity poles, the promotion of special economic zones, the expansion of access to energy, the mobilization and awareness-raising in favor of the development of value chains in countries, and support for investment promotion through the International Conference on the Emergence of Africa.

Investing in Africa is good business and a viable business strategy.

The perfect time to invest in Africa is now because Africa is the most profitable region in the world.

A report from the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development indicates that between 2006 and 2011, Africa recorded the highest rate of return on foreign direct investment, at 14%, compared to rates of 9, 1% in Asia, 8.9% in Latin America and the Caribbean The global rate is 7.1%. Examples of companies making very big profits in Africa. Various factors

make Africa's profitability outlook brighter and make it imperative for European, North American, Asian and Latin American companies to invest in the continent and thereby contribute to its socioeconomic progress.

The prospects for economic growth in Africa are among the most promising in the world according to the IMF, between 2018 and 2023, Africa's growth prospects will be most interesting in the world.

In the face of aging populations in most other parts of the world, Africa's young and growing population is a formidable market. The continent's population is forecast to quadruple, from 1.19 billion people in 2015 to 4.39 billion by 2100.

PGMAG: The current global pandemic has affected so many individuals and businesses. As a global influencer, what would you suggest to those struggling to make ends meet due to the impact of the pandemic?

AKC: We must tell them any tabors that we must be optimistic because human beings have always been stronger in their ability to survive to overcome the

most unimaginable situations. The world has never been so unstable and difficult in peacetime as this moment that we are living. The dead by suicides and depressions have never been numerous per day than in this period of the Covid-19 health crisis, changed in economic and social crisis and to help the victims who suffer from the effects of this pandemic we absolutely must have the right ideas. Take stock of the situation and find ways to meet the needs of all those who no longer work and have no income.

Implement the measures taken at the national level, and answer essential questions:

Bringing food aid to some families and relocated people crammed into substandard housing. And take care of the homeless during this period,

It is necessary to set up a hotline to answer questions related to the crisis, some anticipated on the website or social networks.

We need to reinvent food and emergency aid, exceptional childcare for caregivers or child welfare structures, the link with isolated fragile people and local solidarity. "

Women do not ask for help they simply want our society to change and take into account their strengths their intellectual capacities their value as equal as men because women are the foundations of society she gives life builds the future future leaders of the world.

We must put in place an appropriate procedure to contact and follow the elderly, isolated and vulnerable, and index them on a database and use digital to create a delivery system for groceries, meals and medicines.

PGMAG: What could be done to help more women take on leadership roles?

AKC: Women do not ask for help - they simply want our society to change and take into account their strengths, intellectual capacities and their value. This is because women are the foundations of society. she who gives life builds the future leaders of the world. All enlightened leaders of the

world must open their hearts and eyes to the reality of the changing world and we must enforce parity at all levels.

PGMAG: What is your message for world leaders?

AKC: My message is to ask them to do all to achieve the goals of sustainable development and strengthen democratic governance in all countries.

Your question falls to Pic because I have just written an open letter to world leaders on the occasion of International Women's Rights Day

Herewith my message circulated in newspapers and on social networks.

MESSAGE TO ALL LEADERS IN THE WORLD

- On the occasion of International Women's Day in

my capacity as Ambassador of IHRC (International Humann Rights Commission) I wish all the women of the world a happy birthday.

International Women's Day is an opportunity to reaffirm the commitments of States in favor of equality between women and men.

This is an opportunity to make my proposals to all Governments of the World:

All States must sign a plan on professional equality (its implementation will give rise to a progress report during a monitoring committee), and why not a label (equality between women and men).

It is also an opportunity to highlight the initiatives undertaken to fight against inequalities between men and women, against stereotypes linked to gender and to

promote a mix of professions.

This year, given the health context, if the majority of actions will take place in a digital format.

Take the opportunity to show how to reward the actions that have been carried out by a mixed team a fusion between men and women in action to advance the noble causes of society.

We must launch competition initiatives every year to give everyone the opportunity to make a gesture that is both concrete and symbolic to help reduce the inequalities that afflict women and to bring it to light.

Sexist acts are difficult to identify because they can take very diverse forms and sometimes difficult to qualify.

We must offer internships and trainings that address sexism at work, and on the mental load in order to prevent and react will better identify situations of sexism at work and know how to react to this type of situation, that you are a witness or a victim.

PGMAG: What are some of the keys to building a successful and sustainable

business?

AKC: It has never been easier to start and grow a business than in the 21st century. It is now easy for any visionary manager to catalyze excellence.

For entrepreneurs and managers who are keen to create sustainable businesses, there is a difference between amassing wealth and building a fortune as there is a difference between the goal of any entrepreneur and manager to succeed in building a sustainable business that anyone can manage and develop. To do this, in my opinion, certain conditions must be met even greater between doing business and "building a successful and sustainable business."

Propose values and not instructions: The vision and mission of the organization's values and founding principles, are such that anyone can decide and act as long as they make sure they are within the framework of the values. For a manager who wants to build a sustainable business, he must begin by understanding that his success depends on his ability to give people a watch they can consult to see what time it is doing what is right to do.

Letting the values lead and not the men: The guiding principles of the organization guarantees that all the decisions which fall within the framework of these principles and values are good decisions, the leader therefore will no longer demand that we pay him respect but that we respect the guiding principles and fundamental values. When we have to do something in a company the question will no longer be: "Will the boss agree, but rather is it in line with our guiding principles and core values?"

To make a business prosper you must have the quality of a visionary, and to create a visionary business and environment of excellence, a visionary business is the only type of business where the conditions to catalyze organizational excellence and build a sustainable business can quickly come together. Implement: It assumes that the people inside the company really want to achieve a great ideal and this great ideal is so strong that it transcends egos.

PGMAG: Please tell us more about one of your initiatives (Hope For New Africa).

AKC: Hope for new Africa is a dream that I had the night of my birthday of March 16, 2015. This dream shows how to set up a system to allow all Afro descendants to visit Africa, to know it, to understand it and if possible to return there one day and maybe live in Africa. With this project we have included the possibility of offering your DNA Free to allow descendants of Afros who participate in this program to know their origin and the tributes of descendants if they wish.

In fact this initiative is based on a collaboration with the African States which have validated the HOPE FOR NEW AFRICA initiative which allows us to bring the afro descendants for a secure visit with a meeting with the president who wishes them welcome and informs them about their native land.

I created the hope for new africa initiative to collaborate with organizations of Afro descendants of the world to project a return of Afro descendants to Africa. More than 10 years later, Ghana and Uganda launched this idea to

ask for the return of all Afro descendants.

This crisis weighs on our desire to launch our operation in February 2020.

I would say to all young people that despite the catastrophic period of this pandemic, the only flame that cannot be extinguished is hope. And that success depends on self-confidence and the work force that the have been built and the unwavering desire to achieve the goal your work has set will never fail you.

PGMAG: Sir, it has been a pleasure to have you on today's interview.

AKC: It's a pleasure for me to know you and it is thanks to the digital revolution that our meeting was possible. I believe that humanity has an extraordinary tool but we must master it and control it against drifts c' is for this reason that I created an institution called OPND (Pan-African Digital Observatory for Development) to advise states on digital transformation in Africa.

MAGAZINE (PGMAG)

INTERVIEW WITH:

DR. MARIAM SHAIKH (DMS)

PGMAG: Dr. Mariam, great to have you on today’s interview with Lady Anita.

DMS: Thank you so much Lady Anita for having me here as part of your prestigious global magazine. It is indeed an honour and a pleasure for me to be featured here.

PGMAG: Please briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

DMS: I am an eminent professional in the Education field based in United Arab Emirates with over 35 years of experience and continued success. My expertise covers Student Recruitment, Marketing, Strategic Development, International Relations and Student Experience. I have held key positions in reputed and prominent Universities in UAE and have worked actively to draw aspiring students looking to pursue further studies from all around the world to Dubai. My professional endeavors started in the early 80’s when I owned a Nursery School inspired by my own

children and then went on to Head a prominent school group as Principal. I was integral to the exponential growth of the school making it one of the largest Asian schools in the region with over 7000 students. Following this, I entered the Higher Education Sector to pursue new opportunities and assist students to fulfill their academic and career aspirations.

PGMAG: As a key player in the field of education, what are some of the steps to supporting our children to pursue their dreams no matter where they may be in the world?

DMS: These are some of my experiences which you can use as you wish.

Throughout my journey I have worked closely with students from over 100 different nationalities always mentoring them and empowering them, helping them in their study choices, encouraging them to be entrepreneurs, pursue their dreams and work hard to achieve them. These are our future leaders and working closely with them has been very fulfilling and provided me with immense satisfaction.

We should encourage our children to create their own bucket list. This will give them the opportunity to experience the power of intentionality. Give them time and space to dream their dreams and do not restrict them but guide them. Teach them to work hard with dedication and to never give up irrespective of obstacles or challenges.

My first pioneering milestone achievement was accomplished because of my daughter for whom I started a Pre - School as there were no preschools in the region at that time so one of the ways in which we can support our children is to be good role-models. Always model big dreams in your own life which your children can follow. We should always instil confidence in them and encourage them to dream big and persevere. Always lead by example.

We should encourage our children to create their own bucket list. This will give them

the opportunity to experience the power of intentionality. Give them time and space to dream their dreams and do not restrict them but guide them. Teach them to work hard with dedication and to never give up irrespective of obstacles or challenges.

Encourage your young adults to identify their passion and work at what excites them and keeps them happy. Always encourage positivity and teach them to set attainable goals and show them how to define their direction. As the Chief Happiness Officer in one of the Universities I worked in, I implemented many projects to promote and foster happiness and create a wonderfully positive and happy environment for our students and encouraged them to take the lead.

I also tried to create the climate in which people are motivated to excel, so that they were engaged into work and contributed their best. Thus, I focused on teamwork. I taught others to be selfless in achieving goals that will benefit the whole organization, without waiting for reward. But first I demonstrated this on my personal example. I was an intentional learner, who concentrated on self-

improvement and encouraged it in others.

The same should be done with our children. Create a happy and positive environment at home and always show respect and understanding of their views and preferences with the necessary guidance. Encourage them to network and mix with the right friends and associates and find a good mentor to learn from.

On my journey here, I have faced many challenges but each one of them has only strengthened me to make me the person I am today; a thorough professional who knows exactly what she wants; someone who sets her eyes on a goal and does not lose sight of it, unless it is achieved.

As a professional in a certain field, it is everyone’s dream to be recognized and awarded for the exemplary work that they do. Since it is a dream or a goal, people work hard inorder to achieve it. We become role models of inspiration when we invite dialogue and courageously pursue our own dreams. We become mentors who encourage young people to dream by our example.

PGMAG: Most times, lack of confidence impacts the lives of

CLIMB THOSE STAIRS WITH CONFIDENCE AND DONT LOOK BACK - YOU ARE NOT GOING THAT WAY!!

so many students, and this has prevented them from reaching for the greater purpose in their lives. In your capacity as an influencer, what are some key elements to helping such individuals to become change makers in the world?

DMS: My message to students: CLIMB THOSE STAIRS WITH CONFIDENCE AND DONT LOOK BACK - YOU ARE NOT GOING THAT WAY!!

Many of us struggle with confidence issues. In an age of social media, it can be difficult not to compare ourselves with other people. We might lack confidence at work, in public speaking, or in meeting new people, which makes us fear that we aren’t taken seriously or that we won’t meet new friends.

Reminds me of a quote by Martin Luther King, Jr. “Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole

staircase.”

Think about that. When you embark on a journey, the starting line is clear; you can see it and touch it. But the finish line is muddled, if it even exists.

We take the first step every single day without knowing the outcome. We have faith and confidence in ourselves and we walk a few steps further.

The key here is putting our fears aside and walking that invisible staircase with confidence. We are in charge of our human journey. It can be an amazing adventure, filled with love, happiness and health. Of course, stumbling blocks pop up in our way from time to time, but we get to walk the staircase and choose the adventure in front of us each and every day.

The world has already built our staircase to success; it’s only waiting for us to take the first step!! Ensure that young people understand that they are equipped with creativity, energy and fresh perspective and they hold the incredible power to unlock solutions to society’s greatest challenges. In fact, young leaders across the globe are already creating

change in their communities. Ask them to bring friends and collaborators along from the start. As they develop their ideas, they should be on the lookout for people who bring different perspectives and skills from their own. Then come together around your shared values and goals you’re striving towards. Soon you will have created a team and you will feel that powerful changemaker energy!!

PGMAG: You are a woman in a prominent leadership

position and your work has positively impacted many lives around the world. How can we support more women into leadership roles?

DMS: The famous French writer Antoine de SaintExupéry once said “Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing to take away.” From the power of his words that mean so much to us today, to the many challenges we now face after a period of inevitable decline as a result of the pandemic ,one thing I

know is that women have this innate ability to rise above their challenges so we can adapt to changes, be resilient and challenge ourselves to shine our brightest self.

God chose for a woman to bear human life within her because she has the ability to withstand pain , the ability to give, to be strong and the ability to create something spectacular.

Woman can all be leaders by just realizing their true potential. Yes! it does take a lot of perseverance and experience but the journey of getting there is worth it.

Give back what you have learned - share your experience!

I truly believe that where there is a woman there is MAGIC!! All of us women have magic inside us and can do incredible things.

I am of the opinion that the success of every woman should be an inspiration to others, we should raise each other up!!

As we try to navigate these complicated times, which brings me to this- what I know for sure is that speaking your truth is the most powerful tool we all have. And I'm especially proud

and inspired by all the women who have felt strong enough and empowered enough to speak up and share their personal stories. Each of us women are celebrated because of the stories that we tell, and this year we became the story. All women have great ideas, intuition, perseverance, dedication and confidence Put yourself on the steering wheel and you can steer yourself in any direction you choose and you will get there!l you can decide where to go......

Our job is to provide an environment that unlocks women’s potential – one that protects their dignity and femininity, helps them create the necessary balance in their lives, and values their talents and potential. Given this environment, I am confident that women will perform nothing short of miracles. I play an active leadership role in many Women Global Entrepreneurial groups where we share our experiences and expertise and collaborate to help each other’s businesses. We can encourage women leaders by sharing what we have learned and sharing our journey to inspire others to take the lead.

PGMAG: What does it entail to become a valuable member of the society?

DMS: To become a valuable member of society one needs to first accept that it is society that makes us who we are. It is so important to give back to society what society has given us. It requires us to consistently instill good values in the younger generation by encouraging them to volunteer

We should always look through compassionate eyes. Make an effort to reach out to someone in need. ...Respect. Imagine what a different world it would be if everyone respected each other no matter what their differences or beliefs were. Take Responsibility. Be an active Contributor. Set good examples for others to follow. Always be grateful. A person can be more

valuable to society by actually volunteering in some associated domains, such as:

Society has people, who are struggling with life, surrounded by problems, those who have difficulties in life- I observed, some times even listening to them makes them feel good, feel motivated- so volunteer to listen to people as much as you can, listen not with an intention to pass your time but listen with an intention to actually understand their feelings and making them feel good- thus such people living in society will be happy, you actually create a value for them! By helping people in making them more productivethat includes sharing your experience with them, be it a CV making, an interview preparation or may be giving them some pointers to work more effectively.

Motivate people as much as you can, let them dream! Because success comes when you dream, dreams should not be considered as common or granted to every one, it is to practices, to be preserved to be inspired! People dream, most of them would surely be making it happen, and that not only creates value for them, but it creates value for whole

society!

PGMAG: What are some of the keys to effective leadership?

DMS: Some people are natural born leaders. That’s a frequently heard statement. But are they really? There are people who are called leaders simply because they are in leadership positions. Then there are leaders that others want to follow and are thrust into leadership positions. You want to be a person that you would follow into the darkest nights and brightest days. When YOU would follow YOU, then you become a leader others will follow.

In a world of million dollar CEO’s making headlines on a daily basis, one has to question if those big buck leaders are inspiring others to follow them? Ask yourself, are you inspiring others to follow you? Just being in a leadership position doesn’t mean others want to follow you. You have to earn it, work for it, be an active participant and take responsibility for what you do and say because others are watching you.

There is a huge misconception of leadership in today’s world due to social media, the “online” presence of someone and the

celebrity of reality. People follow leaders who provide the most simplest of things to those around them. Things like respect, empathy, appreciation, embracing new ideas, openness, patience and even the ability to ask questions to.

The keys to effective leadership according to me is to learn to effectively delegate the responsibility for completion and the authority required to get things done. Many bosses feel that they need to control every little thing that their employees do. This is a recipe for disaster. When you delegate work

If you are leading a team, there must be certain characteristics that define your leadership style. The question is whether you know your leadership style and are doing things right!

to employees, you multiply the amount of work you can accomplish while you develop your employees' confidence, leadership and work skills. Set specific and measurable goals with your employees and regularly monitor their progress towards achieving them.

As Leaders we should be motivators. Followers should look up to them to receive inspiration. Imagine if the leader talks pessimism and easily get defeated by setbacks. An effective leader is a beacon of optimism. He does not focus on problems, rather he seeks solutions. He is able to cope with adverse situations without losing the focus on the big picture and future. An optimistic leader does not wallow in the dark, but bounces back even stronger. Always give value to people: It is people who select a leader.

People follow leaders by choice. If a leader can’t value his people, it wouldn’t take long for them to topple him from the seat. Unfortunately, leaders conveniently forget this fact. An effective leader does not work in isolation but encourages people to walk along with him. An effective leader believes in his people, trusts them, delegates responsibilities gives them respect and pays attention to them.

Leadership for me is a continuous learning process. An effective leader constantly seeks opportunities that can add to his knowledge

and wisdom. This is how he overcomes his weaknesses and failures. He is also the follower of leaders and mentors who inspire him. He spends hours reading books on leadership or even taking up advanced leadership development programs to hone his skills. Great leaders such as Winston Churchill and Steve Jobs were avid readers.

As leaders we should learn to accept our shortcomings and weaknesses.

Owing to his position, a leader’s pride may not allow him/her to accept his mistakes. But, an effective leader would gracefully embrace his blunders. He understands

that his mistakes or incorrect decisions could result in the failure of goals and demoralize the people. By admitting mistakes, a leader just proves that he is human and not perfect. However, at the same time, the leader leaves his slip-ups behind, takes lessons and moves forward in life. He knows that he can’t undo his mistake. So, he simply analyses why it happened in the first place and what he could do to rectify it and avoid it in the future. By doing so, he earns respect from people and builds a culture of trust. In his book ‘I, Steve: Steve Jobs In His Own Words’, the Apple CEO rightly said, “Sometimes when you innovate, you make mistakes. It is best to admit them quickly, and get on with improving your other innovations.”

It is not a smooth ride to leadership and then being effective at it.

If you are leading a team, there must be certain characteristics that define your leadership style. The question is whether you know your leadership style and are doing things right!

PGMAG: How do you create work/life balance amidst your busy schedules?

DMS: Effective Work life balance is the key ingredient to

staying happy and successful. Luckily for me, I have my husband and my kids who have always supported me and understood the dedication that my job requires in terms of time. Additionally, having worked with the best teams all along my journey has helped me to reach where I am today. As a Transformational Leader I have always created clones of myself in my work space so that I am able to manage my time in the best way possible. I cannot emphasize enough on planning and strategy . I always prioritize my tasks and plan my week effectively. Often, work takes precedence over everything else in our lives. Our desire to succeed professionally can push us to set aside our own wellbeing. Creating a harmonious work-life balance or work-life integration is critical, though, to

improve not only our physical, emotional and mental wellbeing, but it's also important for our career.

A good work-life has numerous positive effects, including less stress, a lower risk of burnout and a greater sense of wellbeing. This not only benefits employees but employers, too. When creating a schedule that works for me, I think about the best way to achieve balance at work and in my personal life. Work-life balance is more about having the flexibility to get things done in your professional life while still having time and energy to enjoy your personal life. There may be some days where you work longer hours so you have time later in the week to enjoy other activities. When you hear "work-life balance," you probably imagine having an extremely productive

day at work, and leaving early to spend the other half of the day with friends and family. While this may seem ideal, it is not always possible.

Don't strive for the perfect schedule; strive for a realistic one. Some days, you might focus more on work, while other days you might have more time and energy to pursue your hobbies or spend time with your loved ones. Balance is achieved over time, not each day.

Although work is an expected societal norm, your career shouldn't be restraining. If you hate what you do, you aren't going to be happy, plain and simple. You don't need to love every aspect of your job, but it needs to be exciting enough that you don't dread getting out of bed every morning. Your overall physical, emotional and mental health should be your main concern.

Prioritizing your health doesn't have to consist of radical or extreme activities. It can be as simple as daily meditation or exercise.

Don’t be afraid to unplug. Cutting ties with the outside world from time to time allows us to recover from weekly

stress, and gives us space for other thoughts and ideas to emerge. Taking that time to unwind is critical to success and will help you feel more energized when you're on the clock.

Sometimes, truly unplugging means taking vacation time and shutting work completely off for a while. Whether your vacation consists of a oneday staycation or a two-week trip to Bali, it's important to take time off to physically and mentally recharge.

Make time for yourself and your loved ones.

While your job is important, it shouldn't be your entire life. You were an individual before taking this position, and you should prioritize the activities or hobbies that make you

When planning time with your loved ones, create a calendar for romantic and family dates. It may seem weird to plan oneon-one time with someone you live with, but it will ensure that you spend quality time with them without work-life conflict. Just because work keeps you busy doesn't mean you should neglect personal relationships. Set boundaries and work hours.

Set boundaries for yourself and your colleagues, to avoid burnout. When you leave the office, avoid thinking about upcoming projects or answering company emails. Consider having a separate computer or phone for work, so you can shut it off when you clock out. If that isn't possible, use separate browsers, emails or filters for your work and personal.

I always believe in setting g goals and priorities. Those who do maintain a successful balance between their work and life often point to their flexible work schedules. Recent research found that in the past seven years, many employers have allowed workers greater flexibility both with their schedule and where they work.

In our always-on world, balance is a very personal thing, and only you can decide the lifestyle that suits you best."

PGMAG: What is your message for world leaders?

DMS: Our political leaders have great responsibilities, but as with many situations in life, people often rise or fall to meet your expectations. Our responsibility as citizens is to expect our leaders to lead and to give them enough support so that they may do so.

Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, leadership has been put to the test. It is increasingly clear that to emerge from the crisis stronger and more resilient requires rethinking what it means to lead and prioritizing purpose, trust, empathy and inclusivity.

PGMAG: Who would be your ideal lunch date and what would be the topic of discussion?

DMS: My ideal lunch date would be with any of my students over endless discussions on goal setting and helping them work towards making their dreams a reality.

Budding entrepreneurs require all the guidance and mentorship and hence I think that I would certainly love to discuss their plans for the future and give them all the encouragement they need to activate their true potential. This is where my true passion lies- empowering and mentoring students.

PGMAG: What would you say to your younger self?

DMS: Tomorrow will come. The sun will set and the sun will rise again. The great thing about a new day is it’s a new beginning, a time to reset. Each new moment in our life is the beginning of a new time. Each new Sunset, means there will be a new Sunrise.

We can choose to reset each new day, each new moment in time. We have the opportunity to control our time and what

we do with it. When you are wondering what tomorrow will bring, you only have to realize it will bring what you make it bring. This is your opportunity to reset the things you want to change. Choosing to reset your goals, your actions, your dreams is available to you each new day.

Are you not doing what you want to do? Reset! Are you not feeling how you want to feel? Reset! Are you wondering where you want to be? Reset!

PGMAG: It has been a pure joy to have interviewed you –thank you!

DMS: Thank you again Lady Anita! I truly look forward to meeting with you in person!!

THREE GOOD REASONS TO WRITE A BOOK

There are many reasons why entrepreneurs, leaders, businesspeople want to write a book about what they do. For example, they may want to share their knowledge and insights with a wider audience; they know that being an author lends them authority; having a book with their name on the cover feels good and looks good.

There are many reasons why entrepreneurs, leaders, businesspeople want to write a book about what they do. For example, they may want to share their knowledge and insights with a wider audience; they know that being an author lends them authority; having a book with their name on the cover feels good and looks good.

Imagine being a speaker at a conference and being able to say to the organisers that you will give away ten copies of your book or give a copy to everyone in the audience. How lovely would it be to go to a professional or networking event and say to someone you’ve just met – “Here, let me give you a copy of my book. Who shall I sign it to?” Would that make you feel good? Would it

enhance your professional image?

The reality is that very few people make a lot of money directly through book sales. It’s not impossible and there are ways to increase the likelihood of that happening. But in business a book can do so much for you, that you can afford to give it away in return for the increased visibility, goodwill and credibility that it will create for you. Of course, this is assuming that your book is good. And why wouldn’t it be?

After all, you’re not going to produce something that reflects poorly on you, are you? But many people, sadly, do exactly that.

And this leads us to the biggest WHY of writing a book about what you do. It’s all in the process.

Creating a quality product requires planning, research and effort. That might sound like a big commitment but read on and find out how that will pay dividends.

PLANNING

A good book doesn’t just happen. It is planned. And the first step in that process is to decide what the book is going to be about—not in a general sense, but very specifically. Let’s say your area of expertise is underwater basket-weaving. Are you going to write a

book about the history and development of the craft, aimed at afficionados, who will then see you as the goto expert to understand the background to the whats and whys involved in the practice?

Or are you going to write a book aimed at complete novices, detailing how to get started on this fascinating craft, the tools and equipment needed, beginner mistakes to avoid and so on. This positions you as a teacher, and sets you up wonderfully for running courses.

A good book doesn’t just happen. It is planned. And the first step in that process is to decide what the book is going to be about—not in a general sense, but very specifically.

Or do you want to fill your book with creative but complex new designs, with step-bystep instructions for people who are already experienced? This positions you as both potentially a teacher, but also as a master crafter who can be asked to do bespoke work on commission.

You need to think about what you want to be known for, who your target audience is. And that ties in with your ideal client. Some of you may be thinking, why not combine it all into one book? Well, you

could. But the complete novice doesn’t want difficult designs and may not be interested in the history. The theorist may not be interested in the practice at all. Whoever picks up your book may only find one-third or less to be of interest. That’s not a scenario that will give you the recommendations you’re looking for.

It would be better to produce three smaller, more focussed books over a period of time. But right now, you need to write your first book. So, out of all the possibilities, what is it that you want to be known for? Which bit of your work makes your heart sing?

The first benefit of writing a book is that it gives you an opportunity to take a fresh look at what you do, how you do it, and who you really want your clients to be.

RESEARCH

You know your stuff. You’re good at what you do. You’re going to write about what you do all day long, right? So why do you need to do research?

There are a few different kinds of research you will definitely benefit from. One is to see what other books are out there, dealing with your subject. How well are they selling? Why is the best-seller doing so well? Why is the littleknown volume at the bottom of the charts languishing in obscurity? There is no single reason—it’s a combination of different factors. But you need to be thinking about those factors now, because it will help you target your book more precisely.

The second kind of research is to ask your clients, and more importantly potential clients, what they want to know. Imagine reaching out to your network with a message that you are researching for your book, and you’d love to be put in touch with people who have a particular problem. You stress, this is a quick question, or five quick questions, or whatever. No sell. Pure research. And you speak to those people. You ask your five quick questions. You thank them for their time. And THEN, you tell them that if they would like to know

more about what you do, and how that can help them, you’d be happy to schedule a noobligation chat AT ANOTHER TIME. No pressure. You haven’t put anyone off, but you’ve potentially gained another client or several, and you haven’t even written your book yet. PLUS, you know you’re answering the real questions real people have about your area of expertise. Win-win. The second benefit of writing a book is that it provides an opportunity to gain valuable insight into your market and reach potential new clients along the way.

EFFORT

The final ingredient is effort. Generally, in this life, anything that is worth doing is worth doing well. But as busy people, its also useful to find ways to either reduce workload or increase rewards, or preferably both. While you’re busy writing your book, you’re creating content. Content that can be re-purposed and re-used. Website and social media content, webinars, courses, podcast or video scripts, media interviews. Of course, it will

need to be tweaked for each purpose, but if you write with this in mind, you’ll get double benefit back for your effort. The more effort you put into it, the more benefit you get out. Writing a book will challenge you to think about your work in a new way. You will formulate a new structure to your knowledge in the process of imparting it to others.

Teaching a skill to others has always been a good way to help learn it, and reach deeper

understanding for ourselves. The third benefit of writing a book is a refreshed, in-depth look at the expertise you take for granted.

For these reasons alone, writing a book is an endeavour that will bring its own reward. However, there are other benefits to be gained too. And you don’t have to go it alone. You can get support from a writing coach, or a group. You can go on a

retreat. You can even employ a ghostwriter to do a lot of it for you.

INTERVIEW WITH:

JACQUELINE RHULE (JR)

PGMAG: Jacqueline, welcome to today’s interview with Lady Anita.

JR: Hi Lady Anita and thank you so much for this opportunity. I have so looked forward to this interview as I am passionate about sharing any business advice that can help others.

PGMAG: Jacqueline, please briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

JR: I help entrepreneurs to turn their Passion to Prosperity with much more ease and flow. I Coach within the Personal Growth, Spiritual and Law of Attraction fields that are the basis of how I have lived and worked for the past 23 years.

I lead with the Business Coaching, primarily, but also incorporate Coaching in the other areas of your life too - Coaching Holistically to create the desired work-life balance.

PGMAG: As a Business Coach, what are some of the steps required to create a sustainable business?

JR: First and foremost I would say, you have got to be in love with what you do and offer to others. This passion will have you “shout from the rooftops” to your target audience - at any opportunity that you can get. You will never

tire of your business as you know, beyond doubt, that you are offering exactly what your audience needs and wants. This attitude will help you grow a sustainable business as you will be continually reaching out to your prospective clients/customers. As a result you will generate an ongoing pipeline of customer leads into your business.

Another important factor is to be able to think about how you can scale your business. As a one woman/man band, having a plan on how

to increase your income, WITHOUT working yourself into the ground, is a critical factor to sustainability. Nothing kills your business dream (and your health!) more than “burnout”.

So many more steps but for the purposes of this interview, I’d say that this one BIG thing “Mindset” is the powerful precursor to business sustainability, innovation and ongoing creativity. Quite simply if you don’t think you will succeed - you won’t. You won’t take the opportunities that come your way, you’re unlikely to put yourself out there so people know who you are and what you offer and you won’t do the things that will help you perfect your craft.

PGMAG: What should be done to support economic recovery in this challenged times?

JR: I think it would be remiss of any government if they didn’t continue/increase support for smaller businesses to enable them to continue trading, and in turn help them to retain

their employees and grow their businesses.

Subsidised/funded training programmes should also be available for people who have lost jobs. This will help them to re-train (often in better paid industries) and/or help them to start their own businesses.

As spending is the lifeblood of the economy, government support for people in precarious circumstances, to stop them falling through the safety net and out of the regular economy, can only help. It is not only morally the right thing to do but beneficial to recovery as they will remain productive members of society.

for when they contact you for your service?

JR: They are looking for regular weekly support, accountability and someone who believes unequivocally in their dream and vision they have for their business and life. They want the best guidance on how to grow their business without sacrificing their mental health, physical health and other areas of their lives. They also want practical business advice, e.g. sales & marketing etc. They also want to work with someone who lives from the basis of Personal Growth and Spirituality.

PGMAG: What are some of the keys to improving one’s mind-set?

JR: Getting clear on what you DO want is the best place to start. Clarity in your mission, service, product, helps you to stay tuned into only what is relevant to you. This avoids overwhelm, scattered thoughts and an unclear message to the world.

PGMAG: What do people seek

I can’t say it enough, giving yourself regular time each day

to meditate. It doesn’t have to be for hours and hours or involve being sat on a mountain top. A simple 10-15mins daily (or whenever you can) to quiet the mind. You’ll clear out the

daily niggles and doubts that can creep in, to remember how amazing you are, your “Why” for doing what you are doing and be eager to take action on your ideas - because you know you can do it.

This probably goes without saying, but always a good reminder: read as many inspirational books and biographies of successful people as you can. You’ll get constant reminders and reassurance that these people had their tough times, however, their belief in themselves and trust in life, helped them succeed.

Plus: Never stop learning more about your craft/skillset. Cultivate a voracious appetite for improving your knowledge so that you are always giving the best of the best of yourself to your clients. This enables

you to always be able to give the highest value you can in any given moment.

PGMAG: Most times people struggle to make changes that could potentially benefit their businesses. As a Business Coach, what do you think that prevents them (people) to make those tough decisions?

JR: Fear, overwhelm and the lack of belief in their abilities, I find are the most common underlying factors in this. Fear of trying something new, not knowing if the changes will work and therefore thinking of the worst case scenario.

Experiencing overwhelm so not really having the head space to

come up with a plan of action to make those decisions for their business.

A lack of belief in their own abilities to make a tough

decision. This can stem from feelings of “not feeling clever or good enough”.

PGMAG: What were the three top books that changed your life?

JR: Book No. 1: Ask And It Is Given - by Esther & Jerry Hicks. This book really gave me the grounding and knowledge of the Law of Attraction, that where your thoughts go, energy flows and that what you attract into your life, is what you predominantly think and speak about. I am so much more mindful to focus on what I do want and not what I don’t want.

Book No. 2: The 4-Hour Work Week - by Tim Ferris. For me, this book really revolutionised the idea of the traditional x5 days per week 9-5 way of working. It showed many examples of how people could considerably reduce their hours, whilst still being (if not more) productive and generating more income. It also shows how to embrace the “outsourcing” of certain tasks, so that you get to work smarter NOT harder.

Book No. 3 - You Are The Placebo, Making Your Mind Matter - by Dr Joe Dispenza. From a health perspective, I found this book truly thought provoking. He talks about the ability to heal yourself by your

thoughts alone. I think he is a master at explaining spirituality from a scientific perspective, in a very easily understood way.

PGMAG: If you knew what you know now, what would you do differently?

JR: I would have thought about scaling up my businesses much sooner than I eventually did. Scaling up, which generates more income for me also allows me to outsource tasks, thereby creating income for other businesses too. It also gives me the opportunity to live my life in the way I best want to.

PGMAG: Finally, what would you say to your younger self?

JR: Whilst giving her the biggest and tightest of hugs, I’d lovingly tell her to just “chill out” and “stop worrying so much”. As human beings, we will never “get it done” so just enjoy the here and now and hold to this affirmation “Things are always working out well for me.” - because - THEY ARE :-)

PGMAG: Thank you for your time today – much appreciate.

JR: Thank you so much! It’s

been an absolute pleasure.

As part of PGWF mission to support more families during this challenged time, we have been able to hold two projects (one in April and the other on 13th July 2020). We distributed food supplies to several families and orphanage homes.

Our team lead by Mrs Josephine Itsuokor (Vice-president of PGWF) made these projects a success. We will continue to reach out to more families through the support of our global partners.

MRS

Powerful Global Women Foundation (Powerhouse Charity) was founded in 20l6 in Nigeria, West Africa, by Lady Anita Duckworth-Bradshaw. The core objective of this organization is to transform the lives of women and children, through various projects centred around the need of the service group.

In 20l6 Lady Anita single handedly fed over 400 children as part of “project feed l000 children globally”, and held an empowerment conference for the women. Through this project, so many women have gone to do great things with the knowledge they gained from the event.

She recently held a life transforming event for women in Lagos, Nigeria as part of International women’s month celebration 20l8. The turnout was very encouraging. She is working towards supporting more families to keep their children and wards in school through” project back-to-school” starting in September 20l8.
