Silvi Balli Elvan Dajko

This thesis presents a survey on space utilization in the housing environment. It represents an attempt to identify the problems that exist during a multiyear period of use regarding a specific case. It stresses the positive and negative phenomena that influence the quality of housing and analyzes the level and type of activity of residents and people from outside, from the standpoint of such elements as: the method of forming the operation, accessibility, visibility, etc. The issue of the acquisition of a space which belongs to residents in studied facilities, currently is characterized by: a crazy pace of life, mobility, a change in style and the workplace, housing, different ways of spending leisure. Unlimited possibilities of communication, the flow of capital, information, services like different activities influence our lives. Cultural and demographic factors, social factors, economic factors, spatial factors are all factors that influence the research base for the project’s implementation. The area selected for the development of this project is located in a very strategic place, the extension along the boulevard of Tirana. Tirana’s Urban | 256

Plan is very well conceived and includes urban elements like the residential area along both sides of the Tirana River. The area where the designed object will be placed is part of these residential bands, exactly in to the north of the river, but without direct access to it. This area is very well served by main and secondary roads axes defined according to the master plan. The development of the project will be fully adapted to the contour of the area. There will be no standard residential modules for all the floors. They will vary according to the typology and the residents’ number. Although in an urban environment the project takes the character of a residential block, each module will have its own private space creating individuality- typically a feature of a private villa - and the composition involving the other modules will enable the creation of similar semi private spaces serving the respective holders. The final product of this design process tried to address the adaptation of traditional Albanian living into a new residential typology of the XXI century.
