Guy Ritchie based on the 1960s television series. It’s set in the same Cold War period and stars Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer. Opens wide 14 STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON Not a documentary, this is the origin story of legendary L.A. hip-hop crew N.W.A. Opens wide 14 UNDERDOGS This animated film follows a shy boy named Jake who is a talented foosball player, yet he must save his town from being turned into a sports stadium. Opens wide 21 AMERICAN ULTRA Jesse Eisenberg stars as a stoner (secretly a lethal spy), who gets entangled with Kristen Stewart. Oh, and Eisenberg’s character is also marked for death in this Pineapple Express–sounding comedy. Opens wide 21 LEARNING TO DRIVE Based on a New Yorker article written by Katha Pollitt, a successful book editor (Patricia Clarkson) starts taking driving lessons after a divorce. No surprise that she falls for her teacher (Ben Kingsley). Opens wide 21 SINISTER 2 Your typical supernatural horror-film sequel. Opens wide 21 HITMAN: AGENT 47 Based on the Hitman video game (also filmed), this sequel follows an assassin known as Agent 47. Duh. Opens wide 28 REGRESSION This hybrid American/Spanish thriller, which involves sexual abuse and amnesia, stars Emma Watson and Ethan Hawke. It’s directed by Alejandro Amenábar, who did well with The Sea Inside and Open Your Eyes. Open wide 28 WAR ROOM On what is traditionally the weakest moviegoing weekend of the year, this is a faith-based drama about a couple contemplating divorce.
