Welcome… I

would like to welcome you all to my dispersal sale, it has been in the back of my mind for a few years and now the time has come.

It all started 27 years ago with one heifer calf bought by my in-laws, Winston and Isabel and not knowing what it would develop into. Doug McRae, my good neighbor and friend, had a lot of influence in the first few years helping me to get started. Every year I bought a yearling bull from Doug then sold it the following year as a two year old in the High Country Charolais Bull Sale as I couldn’t afford to do it any other way. When I built the herd to 20 cows, I had the opportunity to buy 20 more from McRae Char-Vista Ranch. In that package of cows there were a few Red factor cows which became a great interest to me. Owning these few Red factor cows made me realize the great challenge of getting into Red genetics as there were not many around. is was the beginning of what I started to develop in the years to come. en thirteen years ago, as the red gene pool grew and seeing another opportunity in the Charolais industry, the “Blacks” were introduced with the help of Char-Maine ranching and HEJ Charolais. With this collaboration the black Charolais started to progress. is adventure in the Charolais industry was suppose to be a hobby, but has grown into a very big hobby with a 100 head of cherished mother cows. is is a herd of cows that produces females and bulls that work in both purebred and commercial herds. e back bone of the cattle industry, in my mind, is the rancher. Without them where would we be today? Keeping this important factor in mind, I feel confident about my time working diligently to develop the genetics that have proved to be beneficial to the rancher. is entails a cow of moderate size and weight that produces a low birth weight and will have the performance to rake in those high weaning weights every year. Being raised as a farm/ranch girl, these cows have been my heart and soul. It has been exciting and rewarding for me to be able to have raised registered Charolais of four different colors. I also feel these cows will excel in any direction you want to take them and hope you will have as much fun exploring the future possibilities as I have in the past years. First and foremost, I would like to thank Lloyd and our kids, Vanessa, Derrick, Lana, and Angie, for all your help and support. You have played a big role in my success and have always been there to lend a helping hand. I would like to take this opportunity to thank past, present buyers and bidders for all your continued support. Also a big thank you to those who have helped me over the years, your support has been very much appreciated. Please call or come by to have a look the day before the sale at Highwood and come join us for prime rib lunch on sale day. Plan to stay aer the sale to do a little reminiscing and socializing! Let’s have a great, great day! Jackie Sproule

hat started out as a hobby turned into one of the premier multi-coloured herds in Canada. Jackie Sproule has been very discriminate at building the best herd of cattle she could over the last 1/4 century and when you come to the sale you will see what I mean. She has devoted a lot of time and talent into learning about and breeding the best white, red and black Charolais cattle possible. She is as knowledgeable about this segment of the industry as anyone. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask her as she will tell it as it is. is is the largest and best quality black Charolais offering ever offered for sale and they had some of the biggest weaning weights this year. e tan and red portion is also very strong and there are donor quality females in all of the colours. Not to forget the whites they also are very solid with some top young females here and some very fancy heifer calves. As you will see all the females are not JS prefixed. Jackie was never satisfied to stand still and added the best females and herd sires she could find while continuing to cull what didn’t stack up at home. Her desire to have the best herd possible was always evident. e success of the operation at the area bull sale shows she was producing the right kind. Jackie had many, many repeat customers and sold purebred bulls to breeders across North America. Rarely did she, but whenever she offered a female for sale, it was always at the top of the sale. With the cattle industry poised for many years of prosperity and the Charolais bull market in a shortage situation this dispersal offers an excellent opportunity for you to add some great genetics to your operation. If we can be of any assistance before the sale to help facilitate your purchasing, please don’t hesitate to contact us. Always in the best interest of Charolais, Helge & Candace By
