Molly’s House made it possible for Brandon and his mom to stay in Stuart during his aggressive 6-month cancer treatment. Knowing they were in a safe place, Brandon’s father could keep working and caring for their other children at home.
Living in Okeechobee without reliable transportation, Bonnie found her daily radiation treatment at a Stuart cancer center out of reach. She made the heartbreaking decision not to receive it. Then she found Molly’s House, a 3-minute walk from her medical team.
“We didn’t have much money, and I didn’t know what to do until we found Molly’s House.” –Brandon’s dad, Charlie
“Molly’s House became my refuge–a place where I could find comfort and courage.” –Bonnie

From The Editor
For eighteen years, the Jupiter and Stuart Charity Datebook has been published inside our October issue—featured in a special section readers turned to when it came time to fill out their social calendars and find meaningful ways to support our community. But this year, for the first time ever, it gets a publication all its own. The move feels fitting; this year’s newly expanded format reflects just how much there is to celebrate and support. Our local charitable season is packed with 80 galas, luncheons, walks, tournaments, celebrations and more; each benefiting an organization doing important work close to home. Beginning on page 15, you’ll find the dates and details you need to plan the season ahead. But this year’s Charity Datebook is about more than just deciding where to be on a Saturday night. It’s also about understanding what goes into those events and recognizing the people who make them happen. That’s because behind every beautifully set table, carefully curated auction, and well-timed paddle raise is an army of volunteers (and usually at least one very determined gala chair). In Confessions of a Gala Chair on page 14, we take a look at what it means to take on that role through the eyes of Jackie Siegal—from the endless planning and problem-solving to the satisfaction of watching gala-goers rally around the cause of Furry Friends Humane at the organization’s Wags to Riches Gala. We also break down a charity event by the numbers on page 11, revealing just how many moving parts it takes to pull off one memorable evening from the folks at Selfless Love Foundation. And of course, social season comes with wardrobe considerations. Turn to page 12, where our Scene + Season market page offers inspiration for what to wear when the invitations start arriving—because supporting a good cause and looking fabulous while doing it are hardly mutually exclusive. Whether you attend one event this season or a dozen, I hope this inaugural standalone Charity Datebook becomes a guide you keep close at hand. More importantly, I hope it introduces you to an organization whose mission stays with you long after the last centerpiece has been cleared away. After all, the parties may bring us together—but the purpose is what truly matters.

From The Publisher
Over the years, Jupiter Magazine and Stuart Magazine have proudly supported charitable organizations throughout our community. With so many worthy causes to choose from, we hope this year’s Charity Datebook will serve as a valuable guide as you plan your giving this season. The driving force behind every successful fundraiser, every family given hope, every child whose future is changed, and every animal given care and a new home is someone who chose to make a difference. That spirit of generosity is the true heartbeat of our community. This year’s standalone Charity Datebook celebrates those who give so freely of their time, talents, and resources. Throughout these pages, you will discover extraordinary organizations addressing some of our community’s greatest needs and creating opportunities for brighter futures. Their stories of compassion, resilience, and hope may also help guide you toward the causes you wish to support—with your time, your talents, or your donations. Philanthropy is about more than writing a check. It is showing up: mentoring a child, serving a meal, supporting the arts, protecting our environment, caring for veterans, and advocating for those without a voice. In these pages, I encourage you to find a cause— or several—that speaks to your heart. Attend a gala or luncheon. Volunteer for a shift. Introduce a friend to a mission you believe in. Every contribution, large or small, strengthens our community and helps build a legacy that will endure for generations. To every nonprofit leader, volunteer, donor, sponsor, and community advocate featured in this issue and beyond: I offer my sincere gratitude. Your dedication inspires us and reminds us that the true measure of a community is not what it possesses, but how deeply it cares for its neighbors. May this guide inspire us all to give a little more, care a little more deeply, and continue creating a legacy of kindness in this remarkable place we call home.

Confessionsof a Gala Chair JACKIE SIEGEL DISHES ON DOGS, DONORS, AND DOING GOOD By Kristen Desmond LeFevre
At the heart of every glittering gala is a chair juggling guest lists, sponsors, auction items, entertainment—and about a thousand details no one in the ballroom ever sees. For Jackie Siegel, chairing Furry Friends’ Wags to Riches Gala is personal, too. A longtime animal advocate with plenty of gala experience under her belt, Siegel gives us an insider’s take on rallying support, staying gala-ready, and remembering what the night is really about. (ffhumane.org) Why did you choose to support Furry Friends? My late daughter, Victoria, who passed away at 18, worked and volunteered in a dog shelter. Taking care of dogs was her passion. We ended up with eight rescue dogs—she would always rescue the ones that had maybe one day left. Supporting Furry Friends is part of her legacy. What does it take to be a successful gala chair? You definitely have to be social. It’s hard to cold-call someone and sell a $10,000 table. You need to know people, know who can support at what level, and have a good team behind you. There are so many moving parts—food, music, décor, fundraising. Experience throwing events really helps. What’s your biggest challenge this year? Everyone’s schedule! So many people travel during the summer, and it can be difficult to reach them. You have to respect that they’re on vacation while also getting everything lined up for season. What’s one “always” of gala-chair protocol? Always greet your guests and thank your sponsors, founders, and volunteers. There is so much work happening behind the scenes, and volunteers are sometimes overlooked. Giving your time is valuable, too. What's one “never”? Don’t be a prima donna. Don’t think you’re all that. Be nice, show up and remember to thank
14
the entire network of people who made the event possible—even the person who simply bought a ticket. What's your secret to looking gala-ready after months of planning? I usually get a room where the event is at Mar -a-Lago and I get ready there. I do my own hair and makeup—it’s quicker and less stressful. I streamline my normal routine, add extra glow and eyelashes, and that’s pretty much it.
What’s especially rewarding about this gala? They bring some of the dogs to the gala, and people who had absolutely no intention of adopting sometimes fall in love and go home with one. It’s really cool to see that happen. What do you hope guests take away from the evening? I hope they understand how many dogs are out there that need to be rescued—and how many people truly care about helping them.
