Operational Highlights: 100% Water Quality Rating

The City of Owen Sound has received a perfect score for drinking water quality from the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) for 2021.

The Operations Committee received the annual City of Owen Sound Water System report at their meeting on March 8, 2022, where staff announced that not only did the City pass inspection from the MECP, but achieved a 100% score.

158.6 KM

The City of Owen Sound water system has approximately 158.6 kilometres of watermains and 7,200 connections.

The annual provincial inspection is a legislative requirement of all municipal drinking water systems under the Safe Drinking Water Act. It ensures the City is meeting MECP legislation, policies and guidelines.
