Olajengbesi, in a statement on Monday, said with the defeat suffered by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in last Saturday’s Presiden al, House of Representa ves and Senatorial elec ons was an evidence that the people of the state truly rejected the APC during the governorship poll.
According to Olajengbesi, the landslide victory of the Peoples Democra c Party (PDP) in the elec on confirmed what it described as undisputable popularity and acceptance of Adeleke in the state.
He said stated that “the loss of the APC yet again proved that “Oyetola is a featherweight which the good people of Osun rejected outrightly at the July 16, 2022 governorship elec on”.
The statement reads in part: “The commanding, indisputable and overwhelming victory of all PDP Na onal Assembly candidates in the February 25 presiden al elecon in Osun again goes to shows the popularity and widespread acceptance of Governor Ademola Adeleke who led the party to victory in the state.
“Also, the victory of the PDP presiden al candidate, a North-Easterner from Adamawa, in a SouthWest state and a Yorubadominated one at that is testament to Adeleke’s efficient leadership and effec ve grassroots mobilisa on, capability, tenacity as well as the widespread
THE Peoples Democra c Party (PDP), in the State of Osun has explained why the electorate in the state voted massupport, love and coopera on he enjoys from the good people of Osun.
“It is a poli cal blow that former governor Gboyega Oyetola and his co-travellers in the APC couldn’t deliver Osun for the APC senatorial and House of Representa ves candidates and in fact, Tinubu despite that many of them claim the former Lagos State governor is an indigene of Osun.
“How then can an individual who can’t deliver his state for his party’s presiden al candidate claim he won the July 16 2022 governorship elec on? How? What a public display of shame!
“The people of Osun State have spoken again and loud at that! Oyetola should quit figh ng a legal war whereas he has been rejected totally by the people of the state through the ballot. The people want Adeleke and only Adeleke they want.” sively for the party in last Saturday’s general elec on.
According to the PDP, voters in the state voted en-masse for its presiden al and Naonal Assembly candidates because of the tribunal judgement which sacked Governor Ademola Adeleke.
It would be recalled that the governorship elec on pe on tribunal, led by Jus ce Tershe Kume, declared the immediate past governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, as the winner of the July 16, gubernatorial elec on in the state.
In a statement signed by its Director of Media, Oladele Bamiji, the PDP stated that the tribunal judgment infuriated the people of the state who considered the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a bunch of people who want to steal their collec ve will through the backdoor.
The party said that was the reason while the electorate ensured that the APC did not win any of the elec ve offices in the general elec ons.
PDP secured all the three senatorial and nine House of Representa ves seats in the state during the elecons.
But the APC alleged that the elec ons were held under siege which was responsible for the party’s defeat.
However, PDP debunked the allega on saying that the elecons was conducted under a peaceful atmosphere.
The party added that the elec ons results declared reflected the collec ve will of the Osun people.
“I don’t know whether there is any credence to such a claim that thugs were moving around the state, even with the presence of security everywhere.
“It never happened anywhere. I wouldn’t know where such an allega on is coming from as far as I am concerned. They are just bea ng about the bush.
“In my unit, we were all together with the APC and we didn’t have any issues. Elec ons bring people together. For me, I never heard any report of thuggery anywhere.
“Nothing of such. The elec on was held under a very peaceful atmosphere and the results declared reflected the collec ve will of the Osun people.
“They are threatening court cases again. That was part of what got people annoyed, especially, a er the governorship elec on where people felt that they were the ones who elected governor Ademola Adeleke.
“The residents see APC as a bunch of people who want to steal their collec ve will through the backdoor. That was what infuriated the electorate in last Saturday’s elecons and that is why they got the bea ng of their life.
“They should not begin to make the mistake of making the court appear as if it is a department in APC. The court is for all Nigerians regardless of class, status, and poli cal affilia on.
“Wherever they want to go, we will meet them there. Anybody condemning what happened on Saturday is just messing around”.
