achieved. Trimmer tables were also not included as we were trying to quickly respond to the high demand from the industry for a Eurocodes compliant set of tables at the time.
BM TRADA invites all TRADA members and users alike to critically evaluate the contents and give appropriate feedback where necessary, while appreciating that TRADA is not responsible for any changes to the Eurocodes.
This latest fourth edition addresses most of these early issues encountered by the third edition (the ‘first’ Eurocodes edition). At a glance, this current edition contains: • an additional section for trimmers and trimming joists, consistent with the floor joist tables • revisions for enhanced shear and bearing strengths due to changes to the material standards • changes to some section sizes prompted by an industry-wide survey • improved help on how to get the best out of the tables. All in all, this new edition now includes over 70 tables and 10 figures – a significant expansion. In the decade since TRADA’s first publication of Span Tables, it has become an essential purchase for the construction industry, from designers, specifiers and builders, through to surveyors and building control. However, this is a technical book for professionals in the built environment sector and, as such, requires a certain level of competence to use correctly. As has always been the case, the responsibility for the design rests firmly with the designer.
