Building Analysis is a study of the Vasconcelos Library by Alberto Kalach and the tectonic structures that contribute to the overall program. Components such as diagramming of the site and the circulation through the space guided the study as a whole, with the final deliverables heavily based in Rhino.
The Building presents the bookshelves as hanging gardens which work with the structural components to elevate the experience of the guest. The space promotes meandering and exploration with an emphasis on vertical movement and losing oneself in the books. The overall purpose is to combine urban architecture with nature to allow an interaction with organic elements while reading. The Project ultimately challenged thinking outside of simply the physical aspects, and instead pushed understanding the Building as its own ecosystem.
Design 2 as a whole introduced a new way of thinking, not just spatially, but also by looking at a vast number of designs from various architects. Through many in-class sketches, a deeper knowledge of drawing techniques with different mediums was discovered and fostered.
The Analytical Study of Light is an investigation of how light interacts in different conditions and the qualities it takes on as that given light source changes. The precedent used as a comparison is the Tadao Ando He Art Museum, where the circular nature of the structure could be both scaled and juxtaposed with the abstract program of a hotel. Constructed lightboxes using foam also provided a physical, tangible exploration of the goal to create glowy light and gradient shadow.

Text as Texture
The Diagram of a Familiar Object abstracts the selected Glass to highlight the physical and symbolic characteristics. The Project introduced the proper way to collage using a variety of mediums such as text as a texture, along with poche, and an emphasis on linework. The challenge was to creatively configure multiple iterations of process work by combining extensive research about the Glass including its origins and history over the years with technical drawings in plan and section.
