OREGON CITY Re-Dedication of the Larry Dahl Memorial. Nov. 9, 1 to 2 p.m., at the Larry Dahl Memorial, 2051 Kaen Road. SP4 Larry Dahl was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor on Aug. 8, 1974, for his heroism in Vietnam. Dahl was killed in action on Feb. 23, 1971 — sacrificing his life by diving upon a grenade that had been lobbed into the gun truck he was riding in — saving the lives of other members of his company. Dahl is the only Clackamas County native to receive the Medal of Honor. He is buried at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.
