Cotleigh Core Range
Produced since 1979, Tawny Bitter has become one of the most popular beers in the West Country. Brewed using Devon pale and crystal malted barley and Herefordshire hops, Tawny is a distinctive well balanced best bitter with a subtle hop palate which blends with the sweetness of the malt.
Voted supreme champion of the Maltings Beer Festival immediately after its launch in 1994, this classic premium ale continues to win many accolades. Traditionally brewed with pale, crystal and chocolate malted barley and selected Herefordshire whole hops. A copper bronzed ale with hints of toffee and vanilla. The finish is malty and nutty with a gentle sweet finish. Finalist in the 2000 & 2005 Champion Beer of Britain Competition, 2001 Good Beer Guide "Beer of the Year" and Champion Beer 1994 Maltings Beer Festival.

Dark amber Mild with a light and fruity taste. Golding and Bobeck hops give a sweet aroma with a refreshing liquorice taste on the palate.

All British hops with a hint of fruits are used in this special pale summer beer. Designed to follow and complement our June Special 1963.
First brewed in 1982 under the names of WB Bitter, Batch Bitter & Black Cock Bitter for local pubs and then rebranded as Kingfisher. Now trademarked as Harrier - a light and golden low alcohol beer with a delicate floral and fruity aroma for a refreshing sweet and slightly hoppy finish. Brewed with Pale and Crystal malt with Goldings, Challenger, Cascade and Saaz hops.

All specials are sold on a first come first served basis
If you would like to guarantee your choice is available then you can pre-order at any time. Typically a monthly special will only consist of around 60 firkins
About Us
Cotleigh had been brewing in the West Country for over 35 years and with an extensive line up based around the core brands of Tawny Owl, Commando Hoofing, Golden Seahawk, Buzzard and Barn Owl, all of which were available in cask and 500ml bottles. Harrier, Cotleigh 25 and Honey Buzzard completed the range of permanent cask beers.
Unfortunately in September of 2021 the brewery was forced to close permanently.
Ross Nuttycombe, a well established and much admired publican who has owned the Star Inn at Watchet for around 12 years has now purchased the brewery and brewing started on the site again in May 2022, now under the new Nuttycombe Brewery brand.
Our first brew coincided with the Queens Platinum Jubilee and is named Sovereign. Using the sovereign hop and a Pale malt we produced the light ale at 4.3% abv as a one off special.
We now have our 4 core brands and monthly specials, as well as quarterly beers.
We have also started to brew the Cotleigh beers again starting with Tawny
