The Beeswax Dyson Farming approach is modern, mixed and hi-tech. It focuses on doing things right for its customers, core assets and produce, and for the environment. Beeswax Dyson farms and manages both land and property, grows a diverse range of food products, and powers thousands of homes with the renewable energy it produces.

LONG-TERM INVESTMENT

BDFL’s commitment to British agriculture recognises how vital an industry farming is to this country, with responsibilities for food production as well as stewardship of the countryside and environment. Like other successful British industries, farming should have all the same incentives to invest in research, development and infrastructure to ensure the security and quality of our food supply and to continue with the significant advancements already made in environmental stewardship.

CARBON & NATURAL CAPITAL

Farming has a crucial role to play in addressing climate change, and it has the potential to shift from being a major emitter of carbon dioxide to becoming an important carbon sequester and store. BDF has developed and implemented a carbon footprint assessment for the business, which is now embedded in everyday farming activities; indeed, it is fundamental to how it measures and monitors performance. This has shown that the business sequestered approximately 300t more CO2eq than it emitted in 2019. Our ability to sequester carbon is largely the result of our ability to manage natural capital. Natural capital is everything we do as a business to protect and enhance land, soil, air and the wider ecosystem. Some examples of natural capital that BDF manages include 390,000m of hedgerows, 11,700 standalone trees, and 250,000m of ditches, rivers and streams.

THE FUTURE

Looking to the future, Beeswax Dyson Farming will continue to focus on initiatives that reduce carbon emissions and increase sequestration through enhancing natural capital, whilst operating a commercially sound and resilient business. It will continue to produce the food that our customers want and encourage greater connection and understanding between consumers and farming. The aim is to deliver future benefits for profit, people and the planet: the triple bottom-line framework for performance accounting.
