The building promotes lifestyle and fashion with the help of different retail shops located in the public zone, making it accessible for all. The entertainment area in the building is also provided in public zone cattering everyone.

Workspace and conference halls are arranged in the semi-public zone making it available only for the users who gets benefited from it.

A void floor is created to act as a buffer to separate the common people accessing the building from entering the private zone. Private zone consists of residential appartments for short-term stays.

Design Formulation

The building is designed by givingpreferences to the choice of users.

The user can enjoy the space they want. Each user is different and so different choices is being added to the building in its mode of accessing each functional zone.

The selection of the functional space in each zone is based on the surrounding context and on the need of the people.

Form Development

The building is zoned vertically and horizontally, based on different design and functional aspects. The initial zoning decisions are taken considering the setbacks, user movements in the site and the placement of the building footprint on the site.

To design a multifunctional space incorporating public, semi-public and private zones. The site is located in an urban area surrounded by roads on all the sides.

The intent of the design is that the building should communicate with the user, with the provided functions.

The building serves a commercial shopping area in the lower two floors and a multi-purpose auditorium above it.

The building also has a co-working space with conference halls and individual workspaces too. Residential units are placed in the top floors gaining better views and buffer from the other activites occuring in the lower floors.

The connecting core is placed towards the north and is covered with glass facade and louvers to trap the northern light and views.

Cafe outdoor seatings, balconies of appartments are kept oriented to the eastern side of the site for letting in morning light and to have shade in evenings.

The building is oriented in north to south direction, keeping the cores at the rear ends. This helps to reduce the harsh sun entering into the building.

The building has its entrance from the northern side, having a huzzle-free access.

Basement parking is provided to accomodate the users of different functional spaces of the building. The northern connecting core is naturally lighted by trapping in the northern light and providing a wide view of the surrounding context.

Southern core is covered with grilled facade, thereby reducing heat and creating a shadow play inside the building.

Window openings and shadings are provided to trap in the cool air and to minimise the harsh light.
