New on Nine Introducing Nine PBS KIDS Family Night PBS KIDS® has long been the undisputed leader in children’s programming, widely recognized for helping children learn reading, math and the essential skills that help them succeed in school and in life. On January 16, 2017, the Nine Network launched its new Nine PBS KIDS® channel. The Nine Network’s new anytime, anywhere access to award-winning PBS KIDS® content on channel 9.2 and Charter Spectrum 183 is an important aspect of our ongoing commitment to provide better learning opportunities for all children in our region. The new channel reflects the rising demand for online viewing and offers live streaming and on-demand video through nineNet.org/ninepbskids. Beginning Friday, April 21, Nine PBS KIDS will debut “PBS KIDS Family Night,” weekly family viewing events featuring movie specials or themed programming every Friday from 7:00– 9:00 p.m., and repeating on Saturday and Sunday evenings. Find additional information at nineNet.org/ninepbskids.

Supporting Early Learning in Every Community We bring our unrivaled kids content to the community, too. Nine is honored to be selected to participate in the Ready to Learn Community Collaboratives for Early Learning and Media (RTL CC-ELM) initiative. We will work with Beyond Housing and East Side Aligned to reach children and families in the Normandy School Collaborative and Greater East St. Louis, respectively. 14

“ Family Night” will kick off with Odd Squad: The Movie (April 21–23) and Wild Kratts: Back in Creature Time (April 28–30).

A national leader in community engagement, Nine will work within these communities to engage teachers and families in early science and literacy through PBS KIDS® resources so children can benefit from public media’s trusted and proven educational assets. As part of RTL CC-ELM, Nine will leverage content from trusted PBS KIDS® series Ready Jet Go! and The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That!, along with other media assets, that

will address scientific inquiry and informational texts for young children. We will also use the recently released PBS KIDS Playtime Pad, which features more than 25 educational games; 120 video clips, songs, and music videos; and free PBS KIDS apps, to support our RTL CC-ELM work in the community.
