Table Talk Oftentimes when you think of stars you think of the unimaginable. You may think of “reaching for the stars” or “wishing on a star”. Seeing all the stars in a clear night sky can really make you think about how big the world is and how the possibilities are truly endless. Thinking about the unimaginable, especially the things you could accomplish as a couple, is exciting! With this table talk we want to encourage you to push yourself and each other to ‘reach for the stars’. Sharing your hopes and dreams both as individuals and as couples has value in a relationship. It is a great way to bring positive energy into your life since it’s a very hopeful concept. We all need and enjoy things to look forward to - especially if our current life circumstances aren’t exactly where we want them to be. Working toward something feels purposeful and satisfying. Sharing your hopes and dreams with your partner is also a great way to strengthen the connection between one another. By being attracted to your partner’s desires and drive, as well as seeing him or her want to support you in your dreams, we believe you will feel more connected than ever. One fun and easy way to dream together is with bucket lists or, in other words, creating a list of things you hope to accomplish in life. I think most people have ideas floating in the back of their minds about what they would include on a bucket list. However, are we sharing them with our partners? Are we including our partners in the experiences we want to have and in the goals we want to achieve? Are these items on your list something you can include your partner in? What better way to get into this mindset of reaching for the stars together than by eating your out of this world dinner together while talking about each other’s dreams?!

Take this dinner conversation opportunity to discuss items on your bucket list with each other. This conversation will also help to prep you for the next activity. Discuss the items you would like to do soon and the items you want to do later in life. If they are experiences you could do alone, ask your partner if he or she would like to participate with you! Don’t forget the most important part, which is to share WHY those items are on your list. Here are some questions that can be your guide:

-

What items on your bucket list are you most looking forward

-

What is something you’ve always wanted to do but haven’t for

- -

Wish Upon A Star Now that you have had a chance to discuss some of your hopes and wishes together, in this activity you and your significant other will create a three-dimensional star that includes your hopes and wishes as a couple.

Using your included adhesive stickers, bind the two stars together leaving a small opening for your included twinkle lights.

Enjoy the decor during your date and in the future! Never forget about your wish upon a star that you made tonight and continue to work toward it as a couple.

Enjoy Your Snack & Nebul-yea or Nebul-nay A nebula is a truly wondrous thing to behold. Named after the Latin word for “cloud”, nebulas are not only massive clouds of dust, hydrogen, helium gas, and plasma; they are also often “stellar nurseries” - i.e. the place where stars are born! Enjoy your snack and grab your cards while you play a game of Nebul-YEA or Nebul-NAY! QUESTIONS:

Constellation Love Stories It’s time to turn up the romance. You are going to learn about an ancient chinese love story known as “The Legend of the Magpie Bridge”. The story covers three constellations: Aquila, Cygnus, and Lyra. The star Altair in the Aquila constellation symbolizes a poor shepherd boy named Niu Lang. The star Vega from the constellation Lyra symbolizes a weaver girl named Zhi Nu. The two fell hopelessly in love with each other, however, both of their parents forbade the relationship. Their parents separate them from one another. There are numerous stories about why their parents kept them from being together. One story is that the shepherd boy belonged to a mortal family while the weaver girl was created by the gods. In a different story, the two were neglecting their chores due to their love for one another. In every story about this forbidden love, the two are separated by a river. In the sky, the stars Altair and Vega are separated by a galaxy. One time a year the two stars move closer together. In the Chinese legend the boy and girl can only meet by crossing a bridge. This bridge was formed by the magpies who wanted to help the two lovers. The constellation Cygnus serves as the magpie bridge that allows the boy and girl to meet. This legend is still celebrated in China on the seventh day of the seventh month. Could you imagine only being able to secretly see the person you love through meeting at a secret bridge?! Their love must have been full of passion for them to keep it living on.
