DEMO/SALES BOOTHS Demo/Sales: Learn from the craftsmen! The Demo/Sales booths allow space for the craftsmen to demonstrate how they create their craft. These booths also have a sales area so you may purchase the fine craft you have learned about and seen made. The Demo/Sales booths are marked on the map - Tents D, E, F, H, I, P, Q, S and X. Potters Maureen Mills & Steven Zoldak: Tent D Maureen and Steve will demonstrate throwing on a potter’s wheel both functional and decorative stoneware with beautiful finishing techniques. Watch as they do their specialty surface decorations in a variety of methods, including their slip trailing technique. Peggy Thrasher: Tent E See the phases of creating baskets out of ribbon. Peggy will be demonstrating how she makes her baskets. Have a question about a particular stage of creation? Peggy will have baskets at each stage to look at as well. Art Anderson: Tent F Art Anderson, a folk artist who works in wood, invites children to make a simple, wooden toy that they will take home. The process is simple; tailored to youngsters’ abilities. Parents are encouraged to participate. The tent is free, and best of all, fun. Raku Pots with Richard Foye: Tent H (August 3rd- 6th ) Be amazed as pre-fired pots are heated to 1600 degrees! Various combustibles will be added to cause crackle smoked effects and metallic luster. The finished piece will be displayed and the results explained. Stephen Procter: Tent H (August 7th - 11th) See the construction of large vessel forms by the stacking of thrown sections. Fairgoers may be invited to help lift and place thrown sections onto pieces in process. Jeffrey Gale: Tent I See all aspects of making and putting together a traditional ash splint basket and learn about the cultural history of baskets in our region. Jeffrey will demonstrate weaving ash splint baskets, carving rims and handles, and pounding ash billets into splints. Michele O’Neil Kincaid and Margaret M. Sheehan: Tent P See the making of a quilt over 9 days from selecting the design, choosing fabrics to piece and/or appliqué, making the 3 layer “sandwich”, adding quilting and binding the finished piece. Interested in the fabrics? Watch mono printing, fabric manipulation techniques, adding a wide array of embellishments and more. All you could want to know about the making of an Art quilt! Furniture with Eric Johnson: Tent Q Join Eric as he builds furniture while you watch. He will be using hand planes and saws, both to dimension wood and craft traditional joints such as dovetail and mortise & tenon. R.P. Hale: Tent S Watch as a 5th Generation Printmaker uses an 18th-century printer, making editions from wood-engraved blocks, and incorporating hand-set type. R.P. will be in period garb to enhance the experience. Didjeridu with Steven Bachman: Tent X Listen to the beautiful sounds of these handmade, contemporary expressions of traditional instruments. Come closer and learn about the origin, crafting and how to play. Maybe even play some music of your own on a smaller version!

“We have been demonstrating pottery techniques across the country for over 30 years. Demonstrating at the League of NH Craftsmen’s Fair at Mt. Sunapee is unique for us because of its duration of course, but also because it gives us an opportunity to work a little differently than in our own studio, allowing the viewer to take a peek into our creative practice. We have a chance to verbalize our thought process and really engage with the fair goers. Almost every year we have developed new work right in front of the viewer, and it’s their participation in the process and their willingness to engage with us that make that special.” Maureen Mills & Steven Zoldak
Did you know craftsmen do demos throughout the year at our statewide galleries as well as our League headquarters in Concord?
Tidings of Joy Created by Meggin Dossett
$25.00 The League of New Hampshire Craftsmen’s 2019 Annual Ornament, Tidings of Joy, was hand formed and cast in pewter by Meggin Dossett of Lebanon, NH. Inspired by the happiness of winter and influenced by vintage designs, Tidings of Joy represents the joyful spirit of celebration during the Holiday Season. This is the League’s 32nd Annual Ornament. Available for purchase in Art, Craft & Design: The Exhibition as well as The Shop at the Fair and at League Galleries statewide.
Not suitable as a toy or for children under four.
Our commitment to New Hampshire is what connects us. At Eversource, our dedicated employees are there when you need us, no matter what job they do. Because we believe in serving the neighborhoods where we work and live. Just like you.
