elcome to Sacramento Soccer Day at Raley Field! Brought to you through a partnership with UC Davis Children’s Hospital, today’s events aim to promote a fun, active and healthy lifestyle for children, soccer players and fans of all ages in the greater Sacramento region. For every ticket sold, Sacramento Professional Soccer, LLC will donate 50 cents from the proceeds to the children’s hospital. The ﬁrst match will be an exhibition game featuring the Sacramento All-Stars, a team consisting of the best players from the Sacramento region. The second match will see the Norwich City Football Club of England’s Premier League take on Mexico’s Dorados de Sinaloa in an exhibition game that is sure to get your blood pumping. Finally, Sacramento Soccer Day will feature inspiring stories about the work of health care professionals and the children and families they serve. Young soccer players and their parents will also have an opportunity to discuss soccer during the UC Davis Children’s Hospital Pre-Game Youth Chalk Talk, featuring children’s hospital representatives, players from the Norwich and Dorados teams and members of the United States Women’s National Soccer Team.

Meet the coach Dear fans, Let me start by saying how excited my family and I are about making Sacramento our new home. In just the short time I have been here I have enjoyed the diversity and the established soccer culture in the area. I am excited to become part of the Sacramento community! One reason that I am coming to Sacramento is the commitment to success that this organization has already established at its core. Graham Smith and Warren Smith have showed me that Sacramento has no interest in being mediocre, and neither do I. You deserve greatness from your club, and I assure you that I am here because I believe we can be successful right away. This organization is dedicated to making Sacramento a force in the soccer world in the United States, and I look forward to the challenges that we will conquer as we achieve this goal. As we begin to build this team I want you to know how important your role will be in the success of this club. The community is the foundation of our organization. Everything from the colors we ﬂy to the shield we wear reﬂects our community. I believe that when we unite under these colors we will be an indomitable force in professional soccer for many years to come. Sacramento deserves a professional team of the highest caliber. Predrag “Preki” Radosavljević Sac Pro Soccer is proud to announce Predrag Radosavljevic´ as the Sacramento USL team's new head coach! Known endearingly as “Preki” to fans, Radosavljevic´ is often cited as one of the best midfielders to ever play Major League Soccer. Playing during the first 10 seasons of MLS, he scored 79 goals, earned 112 assists, and was named MVP twice — once in 1997 and again in 2003. Radosavljevic´ retired in 2005 while playing for the Kansas City Wizards, and went on to become an assistant coach for Chivas USA in 2006. He took over head-coaching duties for the club in 2007, and left to become head coach for Toronto FC in 2010. The same year, Radosavljevic´ was inducted as a member of the National Soccer Hall of Fame. SacProSoccer.coM

IMagINe MaJor League Soccer IN Sac Together, we can make it happen

occer is a game that transcends cultures, age groups and language barriers to bring us all together. There are more than 93,000 active soccer players in the Sacramento region. Soccer has become an integral part of Sacramento culture, and a love of the sport has been engendered in youth, parents, college students, athletes, and many others in the River City. With a built-in base of support like that, Sacramento is the perfect place to bring a Major League Soccer team to play. According to a 2009 survey, Sacramento is one of eight U.S. cities with only one major league sport and is ranked 11th in the nation for soccer expansion.

So, how do we do it? One thing each and every one of us can do is show our support for our new United Soccer League team — buy season tickets, wear the team jerseys and get your friends and family involved. By supporting the USL PRO team, you’re helping Sacramento prove that we have the market to support an MLS team. If Sacramento wants to compete in a national market for soccer, we need to show we have a passionate and unwavering fan base. Keep in mind, the last four franchises to come into the MLS were all from the USL. Secondly, we need a stadium. Each of those last four expansions — Montreal, Seattle, Vancouver, Portland — all have recordbreaking attendance for the league, but they also share the fact that their stadiums are

located within each city’s downtown urban core. Building a soccer-speciﬁc stadium within the downtown urban core provides several amenities, such as public transit, walkability and convenient access to businesses that can cater to soccer fans as they are coming and going to games. Building a stadium fosters growth in the area, creating new jobs and a better local economy.

IF SACRAMENTO WANTS TO COMPETE IN A NATIONAL MARKET FOR SOCCER, WE NEED TO SHOW WE HAVE A PASSIONATE AND UNWAVERING FAN BASE.

BY MIKE BLOUNT MLS has learned that these downtown facilities attract their key demographic (18- to 34-year-olds) and soccer fans turn each match into an event, complete with dinner, alcohol and quality time with friends out and about before and after the games. While locations in downtown Sacramento are still being scouted, Sac Pro Soccer is already in talks with the city to ﬁnd the best location to bring the fervor of soccer to the heart of downtown. Having an MLS professional team in Sacramento is not only a real and attainable goal, it makes sense for the city. So let’s all do our part to help make this dream a reality. Together, we can make it happen.
