YESS Girls Movement is one of the major leading projects in Nepal Scouts. Nepal Scouts became the part of YESS prpject from 2018A.D. and still actively doing programs and activities for the young girls and women in the home association. Due to Covid-19, international exchange has been halted and the recruited young girls will work in own home association. In 2021, 20 young girls were recruited from different crews of Nepal Scouts as a YESS National Task Force Members 2021. They are divided into 5 different teams and our YESS Alumnae will lead the them as a team leaders.

YESS GIRLS MOVEMENT 2020

Under YESS Girls Movements Program, for the first time, Nepal Scouts received two international YESS Participants Ms Stella from Madagascar and Ms Safa from Rwanda for starting their exchange tenure in Nepal Scouts. Director of Nepal Scouts Ram Prasad Bhattarai welcomed the participants. Stella & Safa had successfully compeleted their exchange tenure on Sept. 2020. However the term of the exchange was for 6 months but due to covid-19 Pandemic the participants stayed longer. During their exchange, they involved in various scouting activities which gave them the opportunity to learn scouting in Nepal as well as the culture & society. Safa & stella has joined various events and projects during their exchange. The most amazing part of the exchange was their involvement from the troop level scouting to the National level events.They had joined the provincial level scout trainings where they got the opportunity to learn with adults at the same time to share their experience regarding wagggs initatives and programmes. Such as surfsmart, STV, Free Being Me, Body confidence, etc.

Our two young Ranger Scouts Ms Puranjani Duwal for Uganda and Ms Rumi Tamakhu for Tanzania represented Nepal Scouts through YESS Girls Movement for the year 2020. The participants gone through five days long preparatory course before their departure to the respected countires . They delivered the WAGGGS initiatives and programmes for the guides and engaged in the different activities of host association.

YESS PREPARATORY COURSE 2021

YESS Girls Movement-Nepal Scouts had done “Preparatory Course” for YESS 2021 National Task Force Members at National Headquarters, Lainchaur on 13th and 14th Chaitra 2077. Altogether, there were 30 young girls and leaders including YESS Alumnae, National Task Force Members and other guests. The second day of preparatory course began with the detailed information and session of Stop the Violence (STV) lead by YESS Alumnae 2019. Scout Leader Ms. Nirmala Shrestha led Menstrual Hygiene Management session in an interesting way. There was also session on photography and videography by designer of Nepal Scouts. Lastly on the closing session Mr.Ram Prasad Bhattarai, Director of Nepal Scouts presented certificate to all the participants and volunteers.

MENSTRUAL HYGIENE MANAGEMENT

Team Advocacy, in collaboration with COVID, Communication and other teams of YESS Girls Movement: National Task Force 2021 did MHM online session on 27th Baisakh 2078 and on 23rd May to 28th May 2021. The program was organized in order to inform people about what menstruation exactly is, breaking the myths regarding the menstruation and discussed on how COVID 19 has affecting it along with mental health awareness. The program was also targeted to celebrate Menstrual Hygiene Management Day on 28th May 2021. Moreover, within one week of MHM Celebration, everyday a new facilitator, from doctors to advocates, were invited over to deliver the presentation on periods from medical to social, mental and intellectual view.
