YOUTH SETUP

We were founded in 1844 and celebrated our 175th Anniversary two years ago. We’ve got a beautiful old wooden cricket pavilion and a great facility to provide cricket for the people of Rugby and the surrounding villages. We’ve got a great history and heritage having played host to county cricket, international cricket and numerous famous individuals and players. We still host a prestigious biennial fixture with the MCC.

Today

We’re a thriving modern club. We have seven senior sides, four on a Saturday, one on a Sunday and two playing in the midweek league.

We have three junior sides and a bustling kwik cricket section.

In 2022, we’re launching a ladies section to further increase our engagement and offering within the community.

Aspirations

As we enter the next ten year period for our club we’ve got a great foundation to build on and we are taking our club to the next level with the vision of being the best amateur cricket club in the country. We want to ensure that every child in Rugby has the opportunity to try our sport and, if they like it, take that passion as far as their own interest and skill level will go.

To do this, we’re developing our facilities, coaching programmes and community outreach to make sure that we can provide a fantastic introduction to the sport and reach people who would otherwise not get the opportunity to try our game. The first steps were launched last year with the recruitment of (Wes), our first full time Director of Cricket to promote and sustain the game in the local area.

We are proud of our club and look forward to welcoming you at Webb Ellis Road.

donations.

I would like to offer a warm welcome and thank you for joining us on our continued journey and hope you will make the club your home. Our primary aim is a strongly community focused and financially sound facility which offers all players and their families the best playing, coaching and social experience in the area. We are getting there and continue to learn along the way and always welcome members, feedback and involvement.

I am sure you will have seen the fantastic new net facilities going up and I am excited to advise that this is now complete! I would like to express my profound gratitude to all those involved in the crowd funding project which helped make this possible and, of course, for all of the very many kind donations. This will have an enormous impact on the club’s provision of senior, junior, ladies & girls and disability cricket programs. It has been so heartening to see the nets already used for various holiday camps and training.

We plan to run a number of community events this summer so please do keep an eye out for those over the coming weeks. It should be a great summer!

Best of luck for the season and I look forward to seeing you all soon!

WES LANDSDALE DIRECTOR OF CRICKET

What an incredible journey it has been since my wife and I arrived in the U.K.!

Since our arrival, we have been well supported by members of Rugby Cricket Club and the local community and we are forever grateful. I have been exposed to different development structures through the Warwickshire and RDCL leagues, and I have learned how to better integrate development models within the cricket club. As a club, we enjoyed a successful 2021 summer across all age-groups and formats, and I am proud of our latest accomplishment to date - the first ladies hardball development team to represent the club in its 178 year history!

I am very fortunate in that sport has always played a positive role in my life, from kicking a football aged 8, to present. I feel extremely privileged to work with children and adults alike through the game

I love, cricket, and to add influence and experience to the sporting community around the world. My philosophy and longterm goal is to create a positive environment with a holistic development approach. It is my task, as a coach, to make any and all cricket opportunities as fun and interactive as possible at Rugby Cricket Club, Rugby Cricket Academy and Rugby School.

Finally, I would like to say thank you to the RCC committee for continuing to invest in me as a Director to further develop the game within the local Rugby community.

Yours in Cricket,
