Hazelett Leaves NCAFP to Run Dermatological Foundation

After serving the members of the NC Academy of Family Physicians for the last 14 years, Brent Hazelett, MPA, CAE, will be departing the Academy at the end of December to serve as Executive Director of the HS (Hidradenitis Suppurativa) Foundation.

During his tenure as Vice President and COO, Hazelett has led the financial, operational, and educational components of the NCAFP. “We are sorry to see Brent go but know he will do great things at the HS Foundation,” said Greg Griggs, Executive Vice President and CEO of the NCAFP. “We have been lucky to have someone of Brent’s caliber and character for the last 14 years. It has truly been an honor to have him as part of the NCAFP team.”

Hazelett has numerous accomplishments during his tenure at the Academy, including:

• Selling the previous NCAFP building at a significant profit to add to the organization’s reserves and overseeing the transition to state-of-the-art leased space.

• Upgrading the NCAFP’s technology.

• Streamlining operational and financial procedures.

• Reorganizing our CME offerings, including leading us into the virtual education realm.

• Improving the member experience at NCAFP meetings.

• And strengthening the organization’s financial portfolio with an eye toward improving return on investment at minimal risk.

“I am eternally grateful for the opportunity given to me by Greg and the NCAFP. Working on behalf of family physicians is something I will always cherish, and the relationships I have developed are ones I know I will carry forward. Family Physicians are truly some of the most compassionate, kind, and welcoming people I have ever met, and I know having a Family Medicine perspective will serve me well as I move into a more specialized role. Thank you for the opportunity to serve you for these past fourteen years.”
