BRIDGE is the most popular card game in the world and can be played at many levels, from a social foursome over a cuppa and a gossip, to local, national and international competitions.
As well as the intellectual and competitive elements, friendships are formed at the bridge table.
Sign up for lessons in the new year with Buderim Contract Bridge Club. The cost of $50 includes a book, 10 lessons and six sessions of supervised play.
Lessons are planned so that beginners can progress comfortably and then be ready to play at the club or with friends.

Conductor Adrian King and accompanist Natasha Koch SUNSHINE Coast Choral Society presents Christmas with Rutter, the soul-stirring music of John Rutter.
John Rutter has composed or arranged many Christmas Carols and the community choir, established in 1994, is singing a selection including Nativity Carol, Shepherd’s Pipe Carol, and Jesus Child.
Adrian King is the conductor and Natasha Koch on piano/organ will be accompanist.

CHRISTMAS CHEER FROM THE BAND
THE Sunshine Coast Concert Band presents Christmas Cheer with music director Noel Bowden. A community band performing since 1996, members range from teens to seniors who perform a variety of styles from Baroque to Big Band, classical to jazz and pop.
Musicians are in the traditional concert band format, with flutes, clarinets, saxophones, trumpets, trombones, tuba, bass and drums. Expect a special treat for Christmas.

THE Jazz and Blues Collective presents Dark and Stormy with a Twist of Christmas

JOIN A GUIDED GARDEN WALK
LEARN about the essential work of the pollinators, with a guided walk coming up again at Maroochy Regional Bushland Botanic Gardens on December 9.
Gardens are important eco-systems providing habitat and food sources for a range of pollinators, from bees to butterflies, bugs, birds and bats.
In return, they play an essential role in the reproduction of flowering plants and biodiversity.
Meet at the entrance to the Arts and Ecology Centre at the Maroochy Regional Bushland Botanic Gardens, Palm Creek Rd, Tanawha, at 9.30am.

THE Sunshine Coast Art Group’s Christmas Art Market and Exhibition will feature all things creative, bright and beautiful for gift ideas or seasonal decorating at home.
All things painted, potted and sewn have been lovingly handmade by local artisans.
As well as the exhibition and sale of work, members will be giving demonstrations of their craft throughout the day.
There will also be entertainment from the group’s band, Live Junction who will provide the background music for sitting outside under the umbrellas enjoying refreshments.
Sunshine Coast Art Group has been a creative hub for the local community for more than 50 years, providing a friendly meeting place for artistic minds across all disciplines.
Budding artists and seasoned talents are invited to join for regular group sessions plus classes and workshops.
The market includes a silent auction, lucky door prizes drawn every hour and a raffle.
