COVER STORY //

BATHROOM INSPIRATION Award-winning Sunshine Coast designer Adrian Ramsay says starting with a small space may seem limiting, but there is still plenty of opportunity with design flair and environment. “What was a cramped, dreary and mouldy walk-in robe/bathroom becomes a stylish bold and sexy ensuite,’’ he tells My Renovation. Adrian shows us how to create an amazing bathroom in a small space. Visit ardesignhouse.com for more. PROJECT: Treetop bathroom WITH GUEST EDITOR ADRIAN RAMSAY Additional ‘psychological space’ is created in this small bathroom renovation by bringing the outdoors in with a bold approach to nature and the built environment.

THE VANITY A recycled vanity brings a grounding energy and feeling of timelessness. Already being loved and used brings a sense of stability and usefulness to the space. The two basins and matching mirrors allows for two individuals to share the environment with a sense of ownership.

STYLE

notes

• The style of mirror links to the tiles and the feel of history and exotic culture. • The pared-back black taps and round basins are not trying to compete with other features and tie the bathroom in to the light industrial feel of the greater home. • The smaller louvre window is close to the garden giving a more inclusive feel to the environment.

THE SHOWER A doorless shower allows for better airflow and maintenance. Using the floor grate avoids complication to the cuts in the tile and achieves great water outflow.

DRESS IT UP • Greenery connects to the outdoors bringing it in. • Gold adds a luxurious feel along with the mirrors and complements the timber vanity.
