SUPERINTENDENT
Dr. Judi Whitis
EMPLOYEE APPRECIATION Research shows happy employees are 20% more productive. Employees who feel appreciated are 33% more likely to innovate. Employee Recognition increases employee retention and they are 2X more engaged after they are intentionally recognized. This in mind, Dr. Whitis writes a note every six weeks to staff to say, “Thank you. Your efforts are appreciated and recognized.” She has given employee appreciation gifts from small “Excellence” bags with candy to a hot chocolate bar for the afternoon and a small bag of popcorn. But the overall feeling of being appreciated by your boss has been invaluable.
BUSINESS AWARD
STUDENT CABINET
EAGLE PANTRY
She has implemented a Texas Association of School Board (TASB) “Business Recognition” formal award to be given at School Board meetings to local businesses who strongly support DISD. We are so grateful to have a community who supports our school!
She continues with her “Superintendent’s Student Cabinet” meetings each month with 14 students from MMS and DHS who share teamwork and leadership challenges, open discussions, and lunch.
For a leadership staff holiday party, she was sure to incorporate community service as this team worked to pick up, plan, and stock shelves for our “Eagle Pantries” at our middle school and high school campuses for students in need.
