ia and Kevol’s love story began at a birthday party being promoted by a colleague of Ria’s who invited her along. Having an early morning f light for work, Ria and her colleague brought their luggage with them to leave for the airport directly from the event venue. They partied well into the night, f inally leaving around three in the morning. When collecting their luggage from the venue’s off ice where it was stored, a slight “confrontation” occurred between the person whose birthday it was. Angrily he told Ria and her colleague to collect their belongings and go, but not before commenting on how attractive he thought Ria was – who simply rolled her eyes and walked on… Fast forward three months, Ria was promoting a culinary event at an employer’s restaurant where, in her words, “a handsome chef walks in and I was smitten.” Kevol, the “handsome chef,” was also smitten, creating excuses to come back to Ria’s off ice all day, even though the event menu only contained f ive items. Unable to deny his instincts, Kevol asked Ria out on a date before the opportunity was lost. Within a month they “fell head over heels in love” and about six weeks into their relationship while at dinner with friends. One of Kevol’s friends showed Ria a picture from Kevol’s birthday party, and instantly she recognized Kevol as the guy from the confrontation three months prior. If you’d told either of them on that initial evening that they had just met the love of their lives, they may not have believed it. With the assistance of Ria’s mother and cousin, Kevol was able to plan their perfect proposal. Wanting to ensure the element of surprise while having both of their families present, they were able to plan the proposal to occur during the 25th birthday party of Ria’s cousin, which also coincided with the anniversary of Ria and Kevol’s meeting. On the arrival of the big day, everything went as planned, and when the dinner drew to an end,
Ria’s mother asked everyone at their table to say a few words to Ria’s cousin in honor of her birthday. Kevol spoke last, giving the signal to his family, friends, and videographer that the big moment was at hand. Looking into the eyes of his soulmate, Kevol proclaimed his love for Ria, got down on one knee, and asked her to spend the rest of their lives together as husband and wife. Ria and Kevol’s wedding took place on April 28th in gorgeous Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands. Through an extensive process, Ria was able to enlist the service of her Aunt from Trinidad to off iciate the ceremony. As Ria fondly recalls, “the prayer that she prayed over my husband and I during the ceremony had everyone in awe and tears.” The Bride was stunning in an elegant, f loral lace Calla Blanche gown with deep V neck and back, a trumpet skirt, and scallop edged train – complete with a Maggie Sottero cathedral veil. Best Memories: "My best memory of my wedding was my bridal party and our entrance. My bridal party consisted of 26 people. Needless to say, it was absolutely impossible to get everyone to practice anything. I told everyone that we were just going to wing it, and wing it we did! Each couple selected a song to enter the reception. The songs selected were as diverse as my bridal party. As each bridal couple entered, all you heard was a sea of people cheering as if they were at a concert. When my husband and I entered, the DJ dropped the hottest reggae/ dancehall song in rotation. When we heard the song my husband, me and my 6th month belly threw down! The bridal party was so excited and the DJ so hyped that a “dance battle” ensued. Yeah you heard right, my wedding started with an impromptu dance battle. It was all you can imagine and then some."
