AM TO PM BEAUTY
Executive Assistant to globally renowned Cosmetic Dentist Dr APA, Mahsa Nikdar talks us through her daily beauty routine
Talk us through your morning routine? I tend to wake up most mornings naturally by 6:00am, without an alarm, even on my days off. The first thing I do is to light a candle in my master bathroom by Byredo, brush my teeth with my Apa Beauty Toothbrush of course, shower, wash my face with ice cold water – La Mer Facial Gel, followed up by the thick La Mer cream (which I’ve been using for years). Then I’ll add sunscreen on top of my day cream – I use sustainable Danish brand Rudolph Care and I always make sure to stock up on this when I’m back home in Copenhagen. I follow this with the lightweight foundation by Giorgio Armani, Chanel blush and mascara, I prefer as minimal makeup as possible. How does your evening routine differ? I try to not eat anything or have any screen-time/ blue-light past 8pm, to get me ready for bed by 10pm, I’ve set my phone to go on nightmode from 8pm onwards. I wash my face with La Mer Gel (always double cleanse!) then use Mario Badescu’s facial spray on cotton to remove the excess and followed by Shani Darden Retinol oil. At night I love to sleep with a thick heavy cream, I just started using Augustinus Bader Thick Cream, I really do get the buzz now, I feel it does wonders to my skin while I’m sleeping. What are your go-to skincare products? Elnett hairspray for the pulled back high ponytail for weekends, I’ve been using it as long as I remember. Are you a fan of masks? I’m a big fan of LED light masks. My best friend since high school

IMAGES: SUPPLIED and beauty therapist @JulieLemkeSkin recently got me more into deep skincare. I try to see her every 2-3 weeks for my buccal massage, in which she also incorporates microcurrent, hydrating masks and collagen stimulating LED light therapy. Julie also got me hooked on using vitamin C serum, which is a powerful antioxidant that works to stimulate collagen production in your skin. How would you describe your approach to makeup? I love the no-makeup look, however if I don’t add a bit of blush to my makeup routine I will look pale, so that’s always a must. What can always be found in your makeup bag? My Seed synbiotic supplements, so I remind myself to take them when I touch up my makeup throughout the day at the office. What is your go-to fragrance? I use Celine Parade, for both day and night. Talk us through your hair routine. I only use a lot of direct heat on my hair when I go out – for the office, I mostly let it dry naturally and use Sisley Hair Oil, it really smells divine and of summer.
What are your habits for morning/evening prep during summer? I tend to do extra classes at Reform Athletica, Reformer Classes with Roberto, it’s the only workout I’ve found that I actually really enjoy. This is the Summer Escape Issue – where would you like to escape to this summer? Ibiza and back home to Copenhagen – there’s nothing I love more than cycling around the city and being outside on the long summer nights in Copenhagen, that’s happiness for me.
