As Powersoft celebrates its 30-year anniversary in 2025, Todd Staszko sits down with its three founders and executive board members to discuss the past, present, and future of one of the pro audio industry’s most innovative and forwardthinking companies. The journey of Powersoft began long before the brothers Luca and Claudio Lastrucci and Antonio Peruch officially started the company in 1995. The trio shared mutual passions for music, performance, and audio reproduction. Claudio and Antonio both hold degrees in Electronics Engineering, while Luca holds a PhD in Artificial Intelligence and Speech Recognition. Armed with their expertise, they decided to embark on a journey to transform the audio industry. After meeting during university, Claudio and Antonio developed a bond over their shared interests, and when Luca, who is two years older, returned to Florence after completing his

Masters in the USA, they started to work together in the Lastrucci family’s garage. “Claudio and I had interest in music since we were young boys – we played in bands, played at small events and gigs, and a passion for music remained inside us,” said Luca. “When we decided to do something together, music stimulated us to the development of different projects, and together with Antonio, we had ideas of hardware and software that we could develop.” The game-changing development that set Powersoft apart was the introduction of using Class-D technology in a pro audio amplifier. “As pioneers of Class-D technology, we changed the trajectory of the pro-audio amplification market, because we were the first to make the transition from Class-AB to Class-D,” said Antonio.
