focal point GRAND VILLA CASINO EDMONTON, CANADA Located in Edmonton’s ICE District, Gateway Casino worked with Kasian Interior Design to create the first high-end casino in western Canada, while Ombrages worked on the lighting design.The seated restaurant located on the mezzanine floor of the casino provides exclusive access to customers by means of a brilliant gold feature stairwell that elevates guests for an extended view on the gaming floor along with elegant reveals of the VIP level and high-end restaurant. The restaurant’s private dining room, located near the display kitchen, is accessible through a private corridor for special events and private group events. The lighting ambiance of the room is set through three layers of light: a perimeter cove light that provides general ambient lighting, linear shelving lights and accent puck lighting on the POS station. These levels create interest around the room and highlight art and display glasses. Layered above the dining table are the magnificent Dodecas suspension lights from Matthew McCormick, emphasisng the elegance and curve of the space. www.matthewmccormick.ca Image: Chan Rin
