Open Early!

DOWNTOWN MODESTO

Many restaurants start serving dinner early so that you can get a nice meal in before the shows and movies that begin at 7 or 7:30.

Open Late!

Downtown Modesto is the place to be late Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. There is live music every night of the week in one of our great clubs or restaurants. After the show, stop and enjoy a nightcap.

Most all of the downtown restaurants are locally owned. They hire local people and the money you spend stays right here in town. Local restaurants purchase from local farmers and feature local ingredients.

Go Downtown Science on Screen Program March 12, 2:30pm State Theatre

In conjunction with the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Dr. Tammy Ma, Ph.D., an astrophysicist with LLNL, talking about Harnessing Fusion: Creating a Sun on Earth. She begins her talk at 2:30pm, followed by the film Star Trek Into Darkness (PG-13; 2013) at 3:30 p.m. LLNL swag will be given away and it’s lots of fun, but it’s also an amazing (and FREE) way to get cutting-edge science education (followed by a great film that ties in with the theme!).
