hen you look up the word “spectrum” in the dictionary it is defined as a “band of colors, as seen in a rainbow, produced by separation of the components of light by their different degrees of refraction according to wavelength.” We've taken a modified version of that and put it together to create our own Spectrum of color fabrics. My Grandma had a beautiful oasis in her backyard filled with lush flower beds and climbing roses. She even managed to have blessed shade in the hottest desert temperatures. Some of my fondest memories are of spending summer mornings in her garden, pulling the few weeds. I would barely get anything done before she would be at the back door calling to me, "It's too hot out there to weed! Come in and have a chocolate pudding!" Sweet Marion, named for my lovely, soft-spoken Grandma is a reflection of her gentle way and beautiful heart. She loved pinks, and blues, and me. o get to my Grandma Luluâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s house, you had to travel down a long gravel lane with corn fields on one side and a grape arbor on the other. There was an apple orchard beside the house where we picked apples in the fall, and next to the huge weeping willow tree in the backyard, there was a swimming pool. Our summer days were spent swimming with cousins and taking long adventure walks on the many trails in the woods surrounding her home. Lulu Lane brings back mycherished memories of the time spent on that lane, memories of golden days, bright flowers and lazy afternoons. The quilts for Lulu Lane are named Backroads, Sunny, Fairweather and Apple Creek as a reminder of those wonderful, long days of my childhood. I hope you will remember your own delightful days and memories of old as you sew with Lulu Lane.

Abi Hall's new collection 'Hello World' is an illustrated animal atlas that combines nature with fun and education. The map print is complemented by funky hand-lettering and a large cast of sweet animal characters. The collection is rounded out with bright geometric coordinates and rich solids. Some of Abiâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s favorite books when she was growing up were illustrated guides to birds and animals, and she used to copy the illustrations - some of her first real drawings. Sheâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s always loved hand-drawn maps so an illustrated animal atlas was a good excuse to combine two interests into one collection.

hether it was a trip to my grandma's house as a little girl or a stop for ice cream after a spin around town in the summer, the idea of taking a break and taking a drive on a Sunday was a magical part of my life. My family continued this tradition when we moved to Europe, a Sunday drive could mean the rolling countryside of Germany or France, or a ride on the tram in Brussels for Belgian waffles. I even married a man who loved a Sunday drive! We stop into bookstores, have lunch outside or just explore our neighborhood to see what’s new. The idea is to take one day to slow down, enjoy the life around you and be refreshed. Sunday Drive – the collection – is about those excursions. There is a word-print that includes things to do on a Sunday and there are sweet flowers, butterflies, bikes and trees that are always a regular sight on my drives. The navy, red, green, aqua, gray and cream color palette is gorgeous and the batiks – oh my, they are amazingly soft and the new scallop print might be my new all-time favorite! The new patterns include the wonderful pieced and appliqued “Take the Roundabout” that would be perfect for a sew-along, the houses on “916 Red Door Lane” and “Let’s Go Ride!” – a mini quilt with a bike. And if you like Layer Cakes, then “Pinwheel Park” is just for you. So let’s go sew… in the car!

Aubade is geometric with simple and bold motifs in colours to make quilts for sunny days, rainy days, high days, holidays and lazy Sunday afternoon naps. nspired by the colors of an 18th century French colony in India, Pondicherry includes small Indienne prints, floral blockprinted designs and several larger paisley and border prints. The colors of â&#x20AC;&#x153;old Indiaâ&#x20AC;? come through with faded shades of indigo, deep magenta and classic red, while pale grey and pearl ground the collection. I have yet to travel to India but this is my interpretation of what the old city of Pondicherry would look and feel like today.

he poet, Mary Oliver, once wrote that “everyone wants to know what poetry means but nobody is asking, ‘how does it feel?’” Crafting words and creating fabrics is much the same, it’s about finding a way to express an emotion, a feeling.

Like a good poem, the Poetry collection has a mix of elements that is a 3 Sisters signature. There are beautiful florals, polka dots and a classic text print, and a few stripes and checks for texture. The soft color palette of Porcelain, Blush, Mist and Stone sets a lovely rhythm that is accented with flourishes of Charcoal and Rose.
