inera Skifer er tuftet på flere ­hundre år med håndverkstradisjon. ­Allerede på 1400-tallet brukte folk skifer som byggemateriale. Skifer var et allsidig og ­pålitelig materiale. Det var solid, motstands­ dyktig mot vær og vind og godt egnet til det barske, nordiske klimaet. Skifer kunne brukes til så mangt. Den passet til tak og murer. ­Skiferheller ble brukt til trapper, gulv, b ­ elegning og båsskiller i fjøs, og den var god å ha på g­ ulvet i meieriet. Steinen tålte melkesyra godt.

inera Skifer is founded on ancient traditions of Norwegian crafts­ manship. Already in the 15th century people used schist as a local building material. Schist was versatile and reliable. It was solid, resistant to wind and weather, and well suited for the rough Nordic climate. It had numerous useful applications. Schist was used for roofs and walls, for steps, flooring and paving. In farms is was used as stall dividers in cowsheds. Milking parlors and dairies were common in
