OPERATIONAL REVIEW - MINING SERVICES

CSI MINING SERVICES IS ONE OF AUSTRALIA’S LARGEST MINING SERVICES CONTRACTORS WITH A RICH HISTORY OF INNOVATION AND RESULTS. MinRes’ wholly-owned CSI Mining Services (CSI) is a leading provider of innovative and sustainable mining services, supporting MinRes projects and Tier 1 mining clients. The company’s pit-to-ship mining services offering is unique to the resources industry and spans design, engineering, construction, mining, crushing, processing and haulage. CSI specialises in build, own and operate projects – providing both capital infrastructure and whole-of-life operational expertise – and currently services eight external clients across 12 mine sites, in addition to five MinRes mine sites. Innovation also drives CSI’s competitive advantage and is key to its continued growth. Innovation projects progressed this year include the next iteration of its modular crushing plant technology, carbon fibre screen products, shallow-draft transhippers and the world’s first autonomous road trains. In FY23, CSI was awarded six new contracts and four contract renewals, strengthening its reputation for innovation and project delivery. In Q3, CSI also received the Operational Excellence Award at Rio Tinto’s Supplier Recognition Awards – recognition for demonstrating industry leading performance and going above and beyond to safely tackle obstacles and enhance productivity. CSI’s strength is its ability to respond rapidly to the needs of its customers. Its extensive operational and supply chain network is complemented by industry leading fabrication workshops at Kwinana, Bibra Lake and Hazelmere where the manufacture of major components including jaw crushers, cone crushers and screens, dump truck trays and excavator buckets support speed to market and maintain control of delivery deadlines. CRUSHING AND PROCESSING

CSI is renowned in the industry for its modular NextGen crusher technology – an alternative to higher-cost fixed plants which also offers reduced environmental impact across crushing construction and operations. With capacity ranging from five to 50Mtpa, CSI’s modular crushing solution delivers significantly lower dust and noise emissions, consumes less energy and can be rapidly deployed in remote operations. In FY23, CSI also designed its latest NextGen 3 plant, which has been enhanced to include innovative carbon fibre vibrating screens developed in-house and set to replace traditional steel screens, bringing a host of cost and productivity benefits. Components are lightweight, corrosion resistant and have a significantly higher structural strength than steel. The first dry carbon fibre screen was completed in Q1 FY23 and successfully installed at the Mt Marion lithium operation in the Goldfields. MINING CSI’s mining offering spans mine planning and technical services, drill and blast and load and haul services provided to MinResowned and client operations. CSI was awarded two new contracts to deliver contract mining services and its first external contract to deliver rehabilitation services. In Q4 FY23, CSI bolstered its in-house capability with the acquisition of G&G Mining. Previously a subsidiary of Swedish steel manufacturer SSAB, G&G Mining specialises in the design, manufacture, repair and refurbishment of mobile mining equipment. The acquisition means CSI can now provide these services in-house, expanding its capabilities and future-proofing the business. CAMPS AND AIRPORTS

CSI provides tailored crushing, screening and processing solutions for some of the world’s largest mining companies.

CSI builds, owns and operates camps and accommodation for MinRes sites and is considered an industry leader in camp services.

During the year, CSI’s crushing and processing team was awarded two new contracts and delivered one new crushing plant. The contracts build on existing, long-term relationships, one being a build, own and operate crushing project and the other supporting the recommencement of crushing and screening services following a care and maintenance period.

MinRes is committed to providing quality village accommodation and services to create a comfortable, secure living-away-from-home environment. In FY23, CSI continued to add and refurbish rooms at the company’s Mt Marion and Wodgina lithium operations, with queen-sized beds installed in new rooms where space permitted.
