ID CARDS AND DEFENSE ENROLLMENT ELIGIBILITY REPORTING SYSTEM OFFICE Building 3400, Room 115 1401 B Ave. Phone: (804) 734-7394 or 734-7347 Fax: (804) 734-6986 The installation Identification Card/DEERS Registration Office is located in the Soldier Support Center, Building 3400, located between B and C Avenue. The office handles the issue of identification cards for military members, family members, Department of Defense and Department of the Army Civilians. It also handles DEERS enrollment/updates. DEERS registration is a requirement for enrollment in the military’s health care insurance program. Military members should visit the DEERS office following reenlistment, retirement, marriage, divorce or the birth of a child. Anyone in need of a new identification card should call ahead for details about required documentation and to make an appointment. Without an appointment, customers normally wait one to two hours to be seen during walk-in hours. The hours of the ID Card Section are as follows: Monday, Wednesday, Friday 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. by appointments only. Tuesday, Thursday 8 a.m. - noon for appointments and walkin hours are 1 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. (no customers can sign in after the specified closing time). CASUALTY ASSISTANCE CENTER Building 3400, Room 202 1401 B Avenue Phone: (804) 734-6608 Fax: (804) 734-6734/7193 Hours of Operation: Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Fort Lee’s Casualty Assistance Office is the central point of action in the case of an active duty service member’s death or injury, an active duty dependent’s death or the death of a military retiree. The Casualty Assistance staff handles notification of next-ofkin, coordinates casualty assistance officers and briefs surviving family members on their benefits. They also arrange military honors with funeral homes for Army personnel – active duty, retirees and veterans. Casualty Assistance is the primary point of contact for surviving spouses of retired and active service members who have benefit questions.

The Retirement Services Office is located in room 107 of the Soldier Support Center. The office offers a wide range of services including pre-retirement counseling, benefit information and benefit updates. In addition, it is a general point of contact for retirees and their family members for information and referral to other agencies. The RSO also hosts a yearly retiree appreciation day (usually in September) to bring retirees up to date on their benefits. To schedule an appointment, call (804) 734-6555. Specifically, they advise leaders and counsel Soldiers employing the four phases of the Army Career Counseling System to manage retention, force alignment, personnel attrition and Reserve Component transition. Career counselors serve as special staff advisers to commanders and command sergeants major on all matters relating to retention, reclassification, career development, separations and attrition management. Career counselors counsel, reenlist, reclassify or extend Soldiers in the active Army or transition separating Soldiers into the Reserve Components. Career counselors assist in achieving and maintaining force alignment through the retention or transfer of qualified Soldiers into critical skills and locations.
