Mike Curb is the former Acting Governor and Lieutenant Governor of California, a GRAMMY award-winning record producer, Billboard’s Producer of the Year, BMI multi-award-winning songwriter, and championship motorsports owner. As the founder and chairman of Curb Records, he has influenced American music, business, and culture for over six decades while making significant contributions to philanthropy and public service. He continues to lead the independent record company he founded over 60 years ago, which remains the oldest of its kind and is still independently distributed in the United States. His career reflects creativity, perseverance, and dedication to community values. Through his company, he guided many artists and produced multiple #1 songs such as “Candy Man,” “Puppy Love,” “Love Me For A Reason,” “All For The Love Of Sunshine,” and “How Do I Live.” He also wrote and produced music for motion pictures, including themes for The Wild Angels and Kelly’s Heroes, and created memorable commercial and television themes that became part of American entertainment. His label achieved historic milestones with recordings like “You Light Up My Life,” “Oh What A Night,” and “More Than A Memory,” and supported outstanding artists whose work received GRAMMY, Dove, and ACM Awards. His involvement in contemporary Christian music brought recognition to many performers, continuing the label’s success in multiple genres. In public service, he was elected Lieutenant Governor of California and served as Acting Governor for over 200 days, making key appointments, signing primary legislation, and addressing state emergencies. His civic commitment later extended through the Curb Foundation, supporting education, civil rights, homelessness relief, and historic preservation. He also helped establish colleges, centers, and institutes across numerous universities, promoting music education and community programs nationwide.
