Ms. Davis was born March 16, 1915 in Brinkley, Arkansas and has outlived her four siblings. Lizzie (Clark) Davis moved to Detroit and married Lewis Davis. Together they were a team in their real estate business. She owned and operated a 22-unit apartment building. When her husband died in 1965, Mrs. Davis was determined to continue as an entrepreneur. She operated a dry cleaning business for many, many years. “I have done many things in my lifetime. I had my own cab company in Arkansas, too,” informs Ms. Davis.

A long-time member of Carter Metropolitan CME Church, this centenarian served dutifully as a doorkeeper of the house of God as a member of her beloved Usher Board No. 1. where she continues her membership. It was just a few months ago she was in the audience at an afternoon concert. She would always bring smiles to those who entered the church as they would find a 99-year old woman still standing tall, dressed beautifully in her uniform, donning her welcoming smile and outstretched arm to usher you in to the church. She has been absent from her post for a few months now and she is truly missed.
