In the snowbelt of the Upper Peninsula surrounded by state and national forests and known as the gateway to the Tahquamenon Falls sits Newberry, Michigan. With a population of just over 1500 and the unique designation of being the ‘Moose Capital of Michigan’, thousands converge on the area each year to take their snowmobiling adventures to the next level.
And rightfully so.
Ranked #1 in Most Scenic Snowmobiling Area, Best Trail Riding, Best Power Riding and Most Challenging Riding in SnowGoer Magazine, it is a magical place to ride.
The area boasts 128 miles groomed and pristine trails, with the system connecting the entire UP. The Tahquamenon Area Snowmobile Association (TASA) takes it’s responsibility for grooming and maintaining the trails very seriously, and puts many hours of labor and love into the task.
And there’s plenty of time during the year to take advantage … with snow coverage typically running from October through May, the area generally receives 28 inches of snow per year.
