Michael Gastinel

Michael Gastinel is a power generation technician with nearly ten years of experience in utility-scale energy operations. Based in Granbury, Texas, he specializes in plant systems, instrumentation and controls, and turbine operations. His work includes experience with GE 7FA and 7EA turbines, along with DCS platforms such as GE Mark VI and Emerson Ovation. He also has a solid background in emissions compliance systems. Holding a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology, he values mentoring junior staff, improving plant reliability, and maintaining operational standards through teamwork and diligence. Michael Victor Gastinel grew up in Granbury, Texas, as the youngest of three siblings in a supportive, hard-working family. His upbringing was centered around school, church, and Scouts, which shaped his values of discipline and service. Regular participation in Catholic Mass and his time in the Boy Scouts of America played an essential role in his early life, culminating in achieving the Eagle Scout rank in 2008. After graduating from Granbury High School in 2008, he took a year off to gain practical work experience as a sheet metal mechanic. When the Great Recession led to job loss, he pursued higher education. He initially enrolled in Computer Science but later discovered his more substantial interest in applied electronics and electrical systems. This change led him to study Electrical Engineering Technology, where he combined theoretical knowledge with practical skills, earning his degree from The University of Toledo in 2015. After completing his education, he joined Troy Energy, LLC in Ohio as a Combustion Turbine Specialist. His work covered turbine operations, calibration, troubleshooting, and emissions management. He handled NERC compliance reporting, maintained CEMS equipment, supported GADS data management, mentored new hires, and contributed to a successful NERC audit.
